How does the sync look in Live Channels, both using the HDHomeRun input and the Network Tuner input (if available)?

Same in Live Channels, but I don't have the Network Tuner option (not available in the UK yet)

I also have been experiencing sync issues on both a 2017 Shield w/android 8 and a generic droid box running 6.0. Very annoying, almost unwatchable.

Real bad av sync tonight on my 2015 shield with Live Channels and hd homerun input. Don't have network tuner setup.

Appears to be okay in the hdhr app. At least for now..

I am also noticing some audio of sync issues. Never experience this on my WMC devices. I notice the shield has a setting for A/V set to 50ms. Should I set it to 0?

Can anyone from SD confirm if you're looking into this?

I know you're busy with Premium (and as a new revenue source, that has to get most of your attention) - but please don't forget your existing users!

Still occurs here as well and was hoping SD was working on the issue. Can get very annoying at times.I also posted this in another thread with no reply from SD.

I was having this problem myself yesterday at my dad's house. Solution seemed to be to make sure I had the video set to the recommended framerate. That meant going into settings. Dislay & sound. And setting the resolution to 1080p 59.940. Though selecting whichever is the "recommended" one is probably correct.

It's worse with the "wrong" framerate, but that's another outstanding problem (q.v.).

But even with the native (in my case in the UK, 50fps) framerate set on the Shield, there's definitely still a discrepancy compared to other sources.

Onto the bigger framerate issue ...

Framerate with the HDHR app on the Shield is a big problem in Europe that Nick seems unwilling to address (it's been raised many times before). Here's the beef:

If you take the "recommended" framerate on the Shield of 59.whatever fps, that works well for 60fps, 30fps and 24.diddly fps sources. So everyone in the US is happy.

But in Europe, our broadcast sources are all at 25fps. 59.whatever introduces dropped frames at frequent intervals, particularly on panning. So I could set my default Shield framerate to 50fps ... but then apps that don't yet support the framerate API and that have 24fps sources play badly (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google Play).

Android Oreo includes an API for an app to change the framerate. Plex and Kodi use this and it works extremely well. Ideally, the HDHR app should allow a user to choose a fixed framerate (or even default it based on location) and then use the Oreo framerate API to select that whenever the app is opened.

This is pretty much essential for any live TV viewing in Europe. I can't understand why SD wouldn't want to do this.

I have a Nexus player with the exact same issue people are reporting with their shields. I can't find the display&sounds setting on my Nexus to try the fix.

I also have this problem (dropped frames) on Amazon Fire TV pendant design while watching live broadcasts. Curiously, I don't see this on either Amazon Fire TV box Gen 2 or the Fire TV Stick Gen 2 or watching recorded material on the Fire TV pendant. I've been contemplating filling out a seperate ticket for this but it hasn't been so objectionable as it is now that it's football (american) season. The dropped frames are really noticeable with the panning that goes on during a live football broadcast. The Amazon fire TV pendant design has a setting to allow apps to adjust the frame rate, whereas, the older devices do not. I have enabled this adjustable frame rate and toggled ACE passthrough to no avail.

I have a 3rd gen fire TV and have noticed if I turn on AC3 passthrough, if I pause a live recording and then resume playback, I have AV sync issues. If I turn off AC3 passthrough I have no such problems. These problems occur with both premium TV channels as well as OTA.

A lot of work is being done in terms of updating the apps under the hood. I'm not totally sure where this fits into that category, but it seems like it'd be a valuable enough option to consider, especially as Oreo rolls out more broadly. I'll try to ask around.

Had a AV sync issue with a recorded show from Premium TV last night. It was way out of sync. Had to pause and rewind multiple times before it would sync again.

Not sure what's going on here but definitely annoying.
