I meant to post something on this and forgot so thanks.
For me, it usually takes weeks for it to show up but now is a good time since most of the tv spring season is over. But honestly, for me, it's not a big game changer. But, I'll take it.

Does this mean we will see some sort of movement from SD for Android?

It's been over 2 years and really it doesn't look/work much different:

SD has already stated that getting protected path required content available on Android is a near work in progress (possibly targeted for availability with the protected path required recording, and their HDHR5-6CC device (I made that model up, I have no idea what it will be called)). And the new and improve UI (which will go out everywhere) is supposed to be seen RSN.

But my expectation is that given that Nvidia always tweaks a few things in their variant of Android for the shield TV that first something will break with the Oreo update (I would like to think Nvidia offered SD access to the betas to have the ability to test/validate with, but I also expect SD would not prioritize required fixes until GA (since it is a work in progress), just like the Windows insider builds might happen to be tested in their copious free time, but because the beta is a work in progress you don't commit engineering work until it goes GA).

Luck of the draw. Nvidia claims it is only going to take days to roll it out this time. Maybe. I expect many that have not seen the new interface to rant about the changes (as if they actually get a vote).

If it's anything like Oreo on the Nexus Player it's not bad. I didn't like it at first but it grows on you.

Will the DVR app be updated at some point to provide any "channel" support in Oreo? It would be great to have DVR channels for favorite channels, recorded shows, etc and show up on the homescreen.

Has anyone had issues with a buzzing sound when skipping ahead in recordings? I upgraded last night and ever recording does it about every 5 or so skips.

Also when I click on something to record, while in the screen selecting options, it buzzes the whole time.

My 2nd shield in the bedroom still on older sw. doesn't have the same issue.

Lon has a good Video on Oreo here. I am still waiting on the update. The Shield just keeps getting better.

I'm still waiting for the update too. It seems to be a slow roll-out.

Wish there was a way to force the update but I can't find one. I should be careful for what I wish for as my Shield has been working perfectly but I like most of what I've read of the updates specifically what it lets you do with Plex.

Everyone (of any size) does canary testing before wider roll-out to insure if the edge cases are not so edge, the roll-outs can be suspended until the issues are better understood (there will always be some failures/issues, just ask Apple with iPhone updates, but the question is whether they are statistically significant (do the math!)).

Typically if you reinstall the factory image you will get the latest and greatest at the restart and offered upgrades (it used to work with the Nexus phones). Of course, that does have some side effects, but you did not provide additional constraints on the solution sets.

I've received the Oreo build on my original Shield Pro and now the HDHomeRun app and a handful of others won't even open. I'm currently copying off all my recordings with the plan of doing a factory reset. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
