Any chance for an Apple TV app that supports DRM?

So if AMD is a problem, does Silicondust yet know if the Windows 10 app will support DRM MPEG4 with Integrated Intel graphics? When I and others pushed them on the point recently, Intel were very firm that the DRM MPEG4 problem experienced with MCE and Intel is an MCE problem, not an Intel problem, which I hope means that a "modern" DRM/MPEG4 playback platform like Silicondust's DVR should be able to work with integrated Intel graphics...?
h264 does work with the HDHomeRun app and Intel graphics, however we are not using the WMDRM path that WMC is using so I don't think it sheds any light on the WMC problem.

Great news. Is it safe to assume you are going to reach out to AMD? I really don't want to be forced to replace a perfectly good AMD card just to get a few protected channels.

Doesn't sound like it's perfectly good to me.

I think you're confused. The hardware may be fine, but the AMD software (drivers, etc) isn't and you can't have one but not the other.

Would be nice if AMD was responsive to SD on this one, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Let's try to keep the thread on topic. The question asked was whether they have reached out to AMD. Your opinion of AMD is not the subject. That belongs on another forum.

Can't imagine that Silicondust isn't reaching out to AMD on this one as many HTPC's utilize AMD's APUs (Nick even mentioned his system being based on this setup).

The approvals and certificates for handling protected content came through. The first platform to support protected channels (Live TV) will be the XBox One.
This is great to hear... currently I'm using a Windows 7 Media Center (atom)pc as TV input on Xbox one... getting the guide from Xbox one to control channel change on wmc...
The only thing that confuses me is the title 20160127....

@nickk

With Xbox as the first platform, will production and preview builds be supported? I am on the Insider Program and need to know if I should opt out and move back to production releases.

So for those of us who don't want to spend $100 on a video card that is running on a system built around a $70 GPU, would something like a $30 EVGA GeForce 210 1GB Passive do the trick?

The current preview release broke the HDHomeRun app unrelated to protected content. From what we hear the problem will be fixed in a new insider release.

Short version - we don't support insider preview releases but you are more than welcome to try running the app.

If you want to be future proof with HEVC support and 4k support I would recommend the Nvidia GTX 1050. If building a new system a 6th-gen (or newer) Intel CPU will also get you HEVC support.

US cable today is MPEG2 and AVC/h264 - you should be good with an older generation GPU as long as they are still supported by the mainstream drivers.

The GeForce 210 came out in Oct 2009 so more than 7 years old now... might be better to consider something more recent for long term driver support.

A quick search suggests the cheapest GTX 900-series (previous generation) is about the same price as the cheapest GTX 1050.
