Network Access to DVR Disk for Scribe Duo

Post by boonedoggle »

I have just purchased a Scribe Duo and have it working with the HDHomeRun Apple TV app but it is extremely buggy. That being said, I have a Plex server and have setup to watch live TV, but I would like to also access my recordings. I'm not finding much information on how to do this, but I assume that I need network access to the xfs driver that the Scribe Duo uses.

Does anybody know how to get the Scribe Duo DVR to show up in Plex?

Is there a way to export the drive over the network?

it would be up to plex to support such and the only thing plex supports from the Scribe is it's tuners not it's DVR... basically access is only given by various http links. For an app to do it, it would get the recorded_files.json from the device but unlike older versions of the DVR that gave all the files there, they changed such to only give a list of the series from there you get the list of episodes for that series from the EpisodesURL and use the PlayURL to download

for example:
when one retrieves recorded_files.json

Code: Select all

[
{
SeriesID: "C14154513EN36UN",
Title: "9-1-1",
Category: "series",
ImageURL: "http://img.hdhomerun.com/titles/C14154513EN36UN.jpg",
StartTime: 1620093600,
EpisodesURL: "http://192.168.x.y:80/recorded_files.json?SeriesID=C14154513EN36UN",
UpdateID: 3240644141
},
{
SeriesID: "C16936222ENZT8L",
Title: "9-1-1: Lone Star",
Category: "series",
ImageURL: "http://img.hdhomerun.com/titles/C16936222ENZT8L.jpg",
StartTime: 1620097260,

}

then use the EpisodesURL to get the list of episodes

personally if I need access to more than 2 files, I pop the drive and mount in something that supports xfs as I find the 100Mbps interface too slow to do real work on multiple files (not to mention I would most likely need to write other transcoded files there and would need to be able to write to the drive which currently isn't possible other than recording while in the scribe. It's also one reason I usually suggest these days to get a Flex rather than scribe as it makes it slightly easier to pop the drive.

There may be a way to so something similar by making an m3u (updating it regularly or have some proxy do it), then use one of the various methods to use an m3u list in plex but I think you will be more disappointed with such.
