My quest to find a better OTA LiveTV/DVR solution than HDHomeRun DVR

Postby youngster » Fri Sep 14, 2018 1:05 pm

Been running HDHomeRun DVR for half a year now. It has taken me awhile but I finally have it working very well with few issues.
My yearly subscription runs out in 2 months so I thought I would try a few of the third party solutions that employ the HDHomerun Duo as the tuner.

I just tried Emby, and despite having a lot of nice features that are lacking in the HDHomeRun DVR, it failed miserably watching LiveTV on the various Emby clients I tried. I finally just gave up.

My next test subject will be Live Channels DVR. A little more expensive than HDHomeRun, but if it provides for a better experience then it may be worth it.

Or that the OP would need a new hardware device that fully supports Android TV?

All lots of conjectures based on the clear lack of specificity from the OP.
