How to get Live TV channels on Roku

Postby daurora » Mon Apr 16, 2018 8:14 am

I noticed that there is a lot of interest in the Roku player here, and realized that my present DVR solution: TVMosaic; has the ability to trans-code Live TV into an H264 stream; which is suitable for the Roku player.

Now to qualify this, let me state that I have never used IPTV before and to test this I simply followed instructions found at the TVMosaic user forum. Found here:

The forum post indicates that in order to transcode a video stream with default client id and bitrate of 2Mb/s to use the following parameters:

http://TVMosaic local IP:9270/mobile/?command=get_playlist_m3u&transcoder=h264ts&bitrate=2048

I used the Roku app "M3u Playlist Player" and entered the above string, and this yielded excellent results.

See here: ... ist-player

Going forward, there may be a way to play back the recorded TV shows from the TVMosaic DVR using this same method, however, I will leave that to someone else to figure out.

This is a good start.
