Vizio Smart TV with Yahoo apps

Postby dstewart1 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:23 pm

I have two Vizio TVs that run Yahoo smart TV apps. Any likelyhood that the HDHomeRun app will be available on this platform? I believe Samsung also use the same smart app platform. I can successfully watch the live TV through the DLNA but there is no user interface and I cannot locate any of the shows that were recorded to my Synology NAS.

my understanding is the media player in yahoo apps would not support (us) tv standards as they require h.264 and aac not mpeg2 and ac3. They also don't support a continuous stream. So everything I have read about yahoo apps makes it impossible to ever support a tv tuner.

You would need to turn on media sharing for the "share" the dvr uses... that way the files can be served by dlna, not sure how synology handles this. On some NAS's it is simply pressing a button on the configuration page of the "share" on others they need to add such folder to minidlna, twonky or plex.
