instead of installing from source its easier just to install with apt.. " sudo apt-get install hdhomerun-config hdhomerun-config-gui ".. i dont know why this is not mentioned on the Linux page." https://www.silicondust.com/support/linux/ ".?
i still cant use it to scan channels from Linux on " http://my.hdhomerun.com/ ". i had to dig out an old win 7 machine to do that and finding the win 7 program was not easy either.. SD needs better Linux support.
all downloads should be on one page..
linux apt
Re: linux apt
It's safer to build from the latest SiliconDust source. Unless you're using a rolling release distribution, you'll probably get an outdated version of the software.

Re: linux apt
Ubuntu's and Debian's developers don't consider libhdhomerun a "volatile" package that needs to get updates after the initial release of an OS.
By the time 20200907 came out, it was already past the freeze in Ubuntu's development cycle and it didn't get included. So if you're on the current version of Ubuntu 20.10, you'll get 20200521, but if you're on the latest long term support release 20.04 you'll be stuck with 20200225.
Debian is another story, if you're on their stable release "buster", you'll be stuck on 20180817 unless you enable the buster-backports repository which will give you 20200521.
