HDHR5-4K: Meaning of /tuner0/debug "dbg" values

Post by Nounours »

Hello everyone,

When running "hdhomerun_config.exe <id> get /tuner0/debug where the tuner is locked on an ATSC1.0 channel, I get this output:
tun: ch=auto:587000000 lock=8vsb:587000000 ss=88 snq=91 seq=100 dbg=8-102/-689
dev: bps=5775360 resync=0 overflow=0
ts: bps=5775360 te=0 crc=0
net: pps=0 err=0 stop=0

Does anyone knows what the current dbg value represents? On other models like the HDHR5-XUS, the dbg value has typically included a raw signal strength as well as the carrier offset.

I understand these values are subject to change at any time. I'm just trying to gather as much details as possible from the tuner debug output for troubleshooting purposes.

Thank you!

The numbers have different meanings depending on the model and the hardware revision. They are not intended to be used outside of production test.

Hi Nick,

Is there any other way to get the raw signal strength in dBm, especially beyond the "ss=100%"? The latter is complicated to assess when using a signal booster on the antenna.

Thank you in advance.

The DEV version reports dBm values. The upgrade can be purchased here:
