Timing issue - prerecord and post record

Post by Alister »

Hardware Model HDHR5-2DT
Firmware Version 20200907

I'm in the UK and when I record BBC especially sometime the program/broadcaster times aren't exactly the same as the times on the HomeRun . I've lost the last 60 secs of a couple of programs.

When I had mediaportal it was easy to solve this by setting a prerecord of 90 secs and a post record of 5 minutes.

Is there anyway to set this? I've searched google with prerecord and nothing useful comes up. I've also looked at https://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/h ... opment.pdf and there's nothing

To me it should be a simple change in HDHomeRun.conf

What you are asking for is called padding and has been available in the app for about 5 years. However there is no settable default in SD's apps (which is 30 seconds before and after) and would have to be configured for each rule. The link you posted to would be entirely irrelevant as it would be up for the software implementation to ask the device when to tune and stop. In SD's apps, it is set in the Recording Start and Recording End boxes near the top of the rule.

Personally I use my own utility that sets my defined default to apply to all the rules that have padding set to less than that amount (I have a few rules I need more).

I've found I can do it for individual recordings but on a series reverts back to "on time" for both pre and post

What platform and what UI version... there have been a few versions of the UI that had issues setting the padding and a few that had issues showing the changes applied until after you restart the app.

The fire stick is on 20200615 app 2020915b (ui)

I can change the pre record on my PC (20201006/2020915b) for each task - but I still have no way to set global default

Setting a global default is what I want to do - it's currently "on time"

There is no such global default other than 30/30
