HDHR3-CC Dying? - Falcon73

Post by Falcon73 »

I have two dead HDHR 3's now. The power supplies are fine and I've tried multiple supplies on each. No LED light comes on the units and they aren't detected by any scans. I had one in SoCal and the other one in Washington state and both have always been surge protected. I am seeing a trend and I don't like it. I will try support per the above. I just wanted to add my experiences.

Thank you.

I emailed support who suggested I mail the units to them.

I opened them up and found nothing wrong. It was BOTH the power supplies. They both read ~5.6V when there was no load, but they dropped to 1.2 or under when under the (HDHR3) load. The power supplies can't source enough current/power anymore it seems. I replaced them with other power supplies and both tuners work now.

I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Now I have more tuners than I need (having already replaced these).

Thank you,

Not sure if it's a supported config, but I'm running a Prime 3 and a Connect Duo off a couple of USB ports :D

It makes the UPS config a lot simpler!
