HDHR Installer throws error in 20190621 release

Post by aaronouthier » Thu Dec 12, 2019 6:12 pm

Hello,
Running on Windows 7 SP1, so that I can use WMC. However, I am getting a warning that a file has an invalid digital signature. The file in question is %appdata%\SiliconDust\HDHomeRun\Install\Windows1.cab .

When I checked this file in Windows explorer, I see that the root certificate is issues by a party unknown to the system. This is a fresh install of Windows 7. I am in the process of getting all of the updates, so perhaps this is the issue. I will try again when all updates are installed.

Meanwhile, I just wanted to bring this to your attention.

Hmm, I have 2 screen captures, but I can't figure how to attach them to this post?

You need to finish installing the updates, particularly the root certificate updates.

After writing that, and after several rounds of updates and reboots, I finally got to a point where there were no more updates. I still had the same issue.

Oddly enough, I checked the list of installed updates, but there was no mention of any updates with the word certificate or certificates in the title.

I then said “forget it”, and did the upgrade to 10.

I’m on Frontier Fios, so very few channels are marked DRM. (Unlike spectrum).

So, I can get away with using NextPVR for now.

Hopefully, if we ever have to switch back to Spectrum, you’ll have DRM support on your DVR, and your new prime will be out.
