Android vs Desktop

Post by thetesterman » Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:07 pm

I have a HDHomeRun CONNECT on a 1gig Network shared across a ShieldTV, an android tablet, android phone and Windows 7 Desktop.
I have strong signals on all channels and can watch without issue across the Shield and android devices. However, when playing on the Windows 7 desktop some of the channels start to pixelate and eventually stutter so much that it is unwatchable. I can shut down the app and start it without issue but a couple of minutes in the process is repeated.

Again, the issue is only with the Desktop system and no other device.

Any suggestions ?

What are you using on windows 7 as the "app" for that is extremely old and not updated and depends too much on how the system is set up (system, network card, video card, codecs, "only" 32 bit vlc,. . .) and if you have the DVR, it is generally expected that one use kodi with an addon when using windows 7 though I would probably suggest WMC (and get guide data with a schedules direct subscription and epg123).

Good question, I am using HDHomeRun View which I thought is what I should use.
Windows 7x64, I have not tried using anything else nor am I using DVR.

I just tried Windows Media Center ( brings back so many great memories ) and those channels are now working very well... So it seems the issue is the HomeRun windows View application.
Since this is not my main viewing preference, WMC will be fine for my needs.
