Channels don’t match

Post by aejl » Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:58 pm

I am very new to this network but here’s my issue. I installed two antenna, two cable runs, two hdhr extend to my router
I have channels app on my iphone and am using source on my samsung tv.
Regardless of the device if I select a channel, let’s say this tv I get qvc even though it says this. Or if I select retro I get bounce.
This seems to happen on higher channels and it was not like that at the original start up.
Any thoughts?

Can you tell us your Device ID (you can find this printed on the label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun unit, or from the my.hdhomerun.com page)? And is this for every channel or just some/most/ If for some/most, please tell us which channels so that we can open a ticket with our guide provider.

Please enable the sending of diagnostic data on one of the HDHomeRun devices, run a channel scan, and reply back with which one you scanned, and we will check the logs.

I selected unit 105981E6, checked the box to send diagnostics and ran a channel detection as requested.

One of your local broadcasters has made a complete mess of their broadcasts, and you're seeing the result of that. Channel 31.x (WIIC-LD) is owned by a company called Abacus and is what is supposed to carry Bounce and QVC. Channel 69.x (WBYD-CD) used to be owned by Abacus, but they sold it to a company called HC2, and that is what is supposed to have This TV, GetTV, and RetroTV. Somehow they managed to cross the two broadcasts together, so the actual channel 31 broadcast is on air but is carrying the identifying information for 69.x.

Abacus has a phone number listed on their website of (412)205-8292 so you can try calling that and see if it goes anywhere. It's probably disconnected at this point since their site doesn't look like it's been touched in 4 years, but you never know. You can also try reaching out to HC2 via https://hc2broadcasting.com/contact/ . Basically you want to tell them that you're in Pittsburgh and the Bounce TV channel that should be on 31.1 is coming up on 69.1 instead, and the channels that should be on 69.x are all off air.

Thanks. I did send an email via the HC2 site explaining my issue as outlined above. Whether it is coincidental or not, I can say the channel line up matches now and I picked up another 3 channels for a total of 55 OTA.
