KCAL

Post by Wbmanx » Sun Sep 01, 2019 7:56 pm

I have an issue receiving KCAL 9.1. The real and virtual channels is 9. I believe a local station KZSW is overwhelming the adjacent channels. When KZSW goes offline the adjacent channels come in strong. My device is1072798. Can I find out the true signal strength of KZSW is. I am sure that it well pass 100%.

Are you using an antenna amplifier at all? There looks to be a few stations that are getting well over 100% signal, one going as high as almost 150%, and two others in the 130% range.

I need the preamp I am 60 miles away from the towers in mountain 2Edge territory. KZSW is a 3KW channel 2 miles away from me. It's blowing out adjacent channels out. I wish I could find a band reject filter for it.

Any affordable band reject filter would adversely affect the adjacent channels. One possibility is to add a simple antenna intended to pick up only KZSW and mix it with the signal from the main antenna. Then move the KZSW antenna around to see if you can reduce its signal strength. The idea is to mix the two signals out of phase so that they cancel each other. Adjustment is tricky and there's a high probability that it won't work but it's worth a try as long as you don't have to spend much on the second antenna.
