Hub or switch ?

Post by rcoups@comcast.net » Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:35 am

I have just set up an HD Homerun Quatro to transmit TV reception from my Clearstream v4 antenna
I have it linked to a hub that was easier to get to. I am experiencing drop offs and was wondering if going to a switch would prevent this.

You should never use a hub with today's networking (it has been about 20 years since they were actually significantly cheaper than a switch). Unfortunately there are many that use the term interchangeably including some naming their routers and I have even seen MoCA adapters label their switched ports as being a "hub" when they were actually a switch.
