Have to reinstall NAS DVR software every restart.

Post by paradoxgrowth » Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:30 am

Im trying to DVR from my HDHomeRun connect DUO to my Qnap NAS. Weird thing is that it works just fine until I restart the NAS. Afterward when I pull up the HDHomeRun none of my records or tasks are seen in the app until I reinstall. Also no additional recordings are made unless I reinstall. Anyone know what is going on?

Did you use the package from demonrik or just NAS install...

The only install that autostarts via the "official" NAS install is on WD NAS's... for qnap, synology, and asustor, I suggest the packages from demonrik.

So your saying I have to reinstall every restart? That is a pain in the neck!!!!

The package I tried to install from the link below didn’t work in my TS-677. I would open the app within QTS and it was just a blank window.

That's the package you want... I believe what you were referring to was described on the first page as a known issue and
"The workaround is to use the direct URL <ip of NAS>/HDHomeRunDVR"
Either way, no need to reinstall, just ssh into it and restart the engine, or use a means to autostart (can vary by nas when not a package)

Thanks so much for your help! This is all very new and I have no idea what I am doing. I was able to install the QPKG, and see it using the work around. However after restarting the NAS I am experiencing the same issue. After restarting, when I brought up the HDHomeRun software through IP/HDhomerunDVR/ it says "Record Engine Version: Unable to discover DVR version". None of my recordings can be found nor any tasks? What am I doing wrong? The instructions on the HDHomeRun page say to install the QPKG then use the windows software to install the engine? Are we back where we started?

I generally suggest you keep it in that thread to make sure demonrik sees it.

Most likely it is a permissions issue but he did recently make some changes to test some things coming up that may be logged... If you already installed through windows (and have recordings), make sure the record path is properly set as he defaults to another (you may wish to review this post which is about migrating to the package).
