HDHomeRun Mux Question

Post by Kamata » Fri Jun 28, 2019 3:13 am

Got my HDHomerun setup and configured in GBPVR without issue.

I noticed that my first recording from the tunner is being saved in the MS DVR-MS format. Which (from my past experience) is not the most desireable Mux to use.

My question is....what is the best Mux to use? The majority of my recordings are watched these days via the PCH A100.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The HDHR output file is going to be a Transport Stream - filename.ts
What's in the .ts container depends on your unit. Some units can convert the MPEG-2 video stream you'll get for OTA stations to H.264, but the container is, I think, still going to be a .ts file.

If the .ts file is the holdup, MCEBuddy can remux/convert/etc. to almost anything you want so you do have some options albeit the difficulty/hassle/equipment factor increases as your needs do.

GBPVR? Did the forum somehow unearth a post from 2009?

The broadcast is transmitted as MPEG TS, and the HDHomeRun outputs MPEG TS, and that's probably the best option unless you're trying to watch on something that doesn't support MPEG TS.
