Hide Channels/Show Favorite Channels

Post by wlieber » Sun Jun 23, 2019 4:10 pm

Is there an option to hide channels? I pull in over 100 channels and would like to be able to hide the ones I don't watch. I have flagged some favorites on myhdhomerun.com, but don't see where that is helping. I'm viewing on a HDFirestick.

Favorites only work as a folder in DLNA clients as well as a preferred channel number to record from (not device unless different channel numbers between them, for example on my quatros I get CBS on 5.1 while on my primes HD is always available on 1005 and sometimes available on 5 depending on if the TA is working "properly" as the system in my subdivision doesn't get the SD equivalents but they are in the cablecard map... so favoriting 1005 will cause a prime to be used... but if one had 2 quatros and aimed antennas in different directions and made 5.1 a favorite on one device but 5.1 got picked up as available on a 2nd device but not a favorite, SD's DVR could still use the tuner that doesn't mark it as a favorite so it must be disabled and hopefully not dropped)

The only real choice you have to hide channels is to disable channels (same way you made them favorites, just another click).

Thanks for the tip about the extra click to toggle from Favorite to Disabled.
Looks like it did the trick for the Roku App, (but that's the one without Audio on my TV), but all channels still show on FireStick App.

If it is disabled, it should not (with official apps)... try relaunching the app and/or power cycling the firetv.. for some issues i have had to clear the app's cache (if same android device is used as recording engine, i am not sure if recordings are data or cache so be carefull as it may clear recordings... i don't suggest recording engine be on android).

Note the recording engine can take an hour or two to reflect channel lineup changes... usually only an issue if a channel is added as it doesn't know about it. Also the official apps can use legacy tuners for live and there is no way to disable anything on that lineup.

Restarting FireStick worked. IOS and Roku did not need to restart.

I am experiencing the same issue as the OP. I have favorited and disabled a number of channels being received from my antenna but ALL the channels show up in the HDHomerun app on all my devices (3 Windows PCs & an Android tablet). Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

As I stated above, legacy equipment has no way to disable channels found during the scan. So if your old dual that you mentioned in other posts is on the network, it will always get the complete list that was submitted to SD from the scan.

Okay, I'll disable or remove the Dual from my network and try it again. Thanks.
