Only 1 Tuner working

Post by gmgreg » Sun Mar 31, 2019 5:29 pm

Hello,

I have an HDHOMERUN Dual that I haven't used in a bit. I connected it up today an after upgrading my windows software, firmware, etc. one tuner (tuner 1) works great but for some reason I can't get any channels over tuner 0. They both have the same signal input and I've tried swapping them but no luck.

Thanks for any help.

I've turned diagnostics on.

Model: HDHR-US
Device ID: 101BDFF7
Firmware: 20170930

Time of issue: 5:20 PM Sunday Pacific time.

Either the tuner is bad or the power supply is just on the edge of failing and that's causing tuner issues. You might try another power supply to see if it works any better. It needs to be exactly 5V and at least 1A.

Thanks. I swapped out the power supply and nothing changed so I guess I have a bum HDHomeRun.

Thanks for the assistance.

When i first read your post, it sounded like an old dual with 2 inputs as you mentioned swapping, if that is the case, make sure replacement is 2A or greater... those old ones were 2A not 1A as mentioned above.

However the deviceID provided is higher than 1013xxxx as stated in faq (i thought 3rd gen was 103xxxxx)

First gen were 1010-1012 and required 2A. Second gen were 1013-101F and only needed 1A.

Thanks, this appears to have solved my problem. OEM power supply felt like the plastic was about to melt it was so hot. Replaced with an old router 5V DC PSU and back up and running.
