UPnP - jusbo20

Postby jusbo20 » Mon Feb 04, 2019 6:56 pm

Piggybacking on your post beerman....but somewhat related.

Equipment: Connect, ShieldTV, Windows 10, Wired network.

Issue: "Unable to play channel, timeout error"
Background:
New install of Windows 10 but otherwise no known changes. Last night we were watching the Super Bowl and everything was ok then it would freeze and give me the aforementioned error. I'd select the channel from the menu and it would resume as normal. Tonight it still does it after I have disabled windows firewall and rebooted all my devices (router, computer, connect, and shield)...and it does it on different channels.
Also I do not have any antivirus software to disable (as mentioned by the help page). Anyone got a better idea of what broke?

When odd things happen to me, I reboot my tuners and TA's and things usually work better.
I also think sometimes Window updates stinks things up.

Indeed Windows updates do hink things up. I may have solved my issue though. Sleep. I disabled sleep and hybrid sleep. And so far a few hours later no timeouts.
Funny tho'....If I'm watching live TV on my Shield....why would windows have anything to do with the "AB" conversation ?

Do you have the Silicon Dust DVR installed on your Win 10 PC? If so, I think sleep would create problems.

Yes it is....and sleep does cause problems....haven't had a hiccup since changing it to never sleep.
