UPnP - Beerman

Postby Beerman » Sat Feb 02, 2019 2:06 pm

I had a problem with one of my desktops and had to use a month old backup. Things seem fine but when I went to HDHR setup it found all my tuners but popped up that there is a UPnP problem. I'm not having any problems that I know of and my virus program and router are fine. The firewall shows HDHR is allowed. I know I've done this long ago but can't remember what I did. I'm not even sure how this affects HDHR anyway.
What am I missing?

UPnP is used by DLNA devices to discover each other and WMC to discover HDHomeRun PRIME devices. If you don't use WMC with a PRIME, or DLNA, you can safely ignore it. The most common culprits for blocking it are third-party firewalls and routers. Occasionally Windows might block it if it has your network marked as public instead of private.

For me, it was fixed just by rebooting my Primes. For some reason this seems to happen every now and again and I don't know why. Windows Update, Virus Update, Russians? No idea but all is good for now.
