The device was announced at CES 2018 as being available later in the year. As I recall, the device was shown on the website as coming soon the second week of September 2018. Obviously it has slipped from the original target dates. Stuff happens (especially for devices that have to pass certification processes). I would expect more information regarding the Prime 6 will be shared in about two weeks, but that is admittedly just a guess based on industry events.

I don't even see the Prime 3 on Amazon. Do they no longer sell it? I just see used ones on e-bay.

The HDHR3-CC appears to no longer be in new production, and stock from the usual online vendors is depleted (there may be a few random ones sitting on shelves in various B&M retailers around the country. You could consider using the travelling salesman algorithm to make the road trip shorter). The Prime 6 is not yet available for consumer purchase. The only currently available SiliconDust CableCARD tuners are on the new-to-you market (as you have found). The release and availability of the Prime 6 is highly anticipated by many members of the community, but no dates are known.

The retail rates for equipment least from my cable company are below. Right now I am paying a lot less on a promotional rate, but some of my neighbors are paying full price.
  • T-I-V-O T6 Whole Home Bundle .................................... $49.45 (includes one mini)
    Additional T-I-V-O Mini (up to 3) ...................................... $5.00
    Additional T-I-V-O Mini (4th and up) .............................. $10.95
    Cable Card................................................................... $4.50
If I understand it correctly, I could return the equipment and just pay $4.50 a month for CableCARD.
DVR service costs $35 per year
I need Roku boxes for the secondary televisions
Are you expecting the Prime 6 to come in under $250? What did the Prime 3 sell for?

Can I use a $90 PNY Pro Elite 512GB 400MB/sec USB 3.0 Premium Flash Drive P-FD512PRO-GE for DVR storage, or do I need something more elaborate?

They have stated the 6 tuner should be in the $200 price range. Prime 3 ran at around $135

There currently is not an HDHomerun APP for Roku and not sure if there ever will be.

If your flashdrive is hooked up to a device that supports the DVR engine, theoretically you can use it. I personally use an older Windows 7 laptop with a USB 3 external HDD for my record engine and it performs fine. Other devices you could use for DVR engine besides a Windows computer are an Official AndroidTV device with external storage or a NAS. Just look here https://www.silicondust.com/dvr-service/#devices

I don't have good wifi and I only have Rokus. Is there any recommendations between the four below, or doesn't it matter.
  • AIR TV PLAYER
  • XIAOMI MIBOX
  • APPLE TV 4 (using AirPlay mirroring)
  • AMAZON FIRE TV BOX
If it was announced as coming soon at CES2018, then presumably at CES2019 it should be announced as available.

You can use Roku with 3rd party APPS which require subscription, like PLEX, but if you have DRM situation it will not work for you. Mi Boxes and Fire TVs do not have Ethernet adaptors built in and require an external one to plug into USB. I've never owned and Apple TV but also there is no native HDHomerun on it, you have to mirror from your phone. Nvidia Shields have Ethernet adaptor built in, Jetstream box has Ethernet. I have never had an issue streaming to a Mi Box over wifi (AC Wireless) as long as I wasn't too far away from the Access Point.

Hope this helps

You can use the Channels app on Apple TV. Works great but doesn’t support DRM

You think $25 is a premium price? $25 one time cost to install on multiple Appletv’s and The picture looks just as good as regular cable and has a grid guide is worth it to me. Plus you can setup your own favorites, delete channels thro the app and even update the firmware of the HDHOMERUN. I would pay $100 for it. I think Silcondust should buy them and add DRM support to it. It’s much better then there app

I am testing now … it is nice to have the same Interface locally and remotely... I do like that you can watch remotely all your channels/recordings minus DRM without having to use Plex or Emby…. also comskip works great on it... and it also has recording maintenance... delete automatically keep for ever and much more.
