Scan required - Fresco

Postby Fresco » Wed Oct 03, 2018 5:20 pm

I'm having a similar issue. here's my info

{"FriendlyName":"HDHomeRun DUAL","ModelNumber":"HDHR3-US","Legacy":1,"FirmwareName":"hdhomerun3_atsc","FirmwareVersion":"20170930","DeviceID":"103956BD","DeviceAuth":"redacted","TunerCount":2,"BaseURL":"http://192.168.1.26:80","LineupURL":"http://ipv4-api.hdhomerun.com/api/lineup?DeviceAuth=redacted"}

When I launch the HDhomerun software it says 'no channels / scan required". After performing the scan on a windows machine it finds about a dozen channels and I can click on them and watch them in VLC. I understand that my legacy device looks for the lineup on the HDhomerun servers, but what do I do to make use of that URL?

Does your HDHomeRun have internet access? The DeviceAuth needs to be refreshed every 8 hours, so if the HDHomeRun is blocked from communicating out, it won't be able to do that, and as a result the app won't be able to get the channel lineup.

It is not being actively blocked. Is there a port I need to open on my router to allow it access?

No, it just needs to be able to get out on port 80, no inbound forwarding is needed. It does need to be given a valid DNS server via DHCP so that it can resolve the correct IP address for our server. Some ISP servers can be problematic, so we recommend using either Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) or Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) if you can set such things in your router.
