New flex 4K DVR storage? - edbee

Post by edbee »

When I bought the 4K Flex (my first HomeRun product) I expected to be able to plug in my 3TB Toshiba Canvio external drive to use for DVR storage. It has it's own power supply and I've tried exFat, NTFS, XFS and Fat32 file formats before plugging it into my brand new Flex 4K device. Each time I've tried I receive the same "Storage fault detected" error message. I have other options, including a Synology NAS, but I was hoping to use the USB storage which was one of the reasons I bought this unit. I have an Asus AX AI Mesh system with 3 routers and one is in the room where the Flex 4K is located and so it is connected via ethernet cable. I use my NAS mostly for Plex and space is filling up fast, lol. Could an admin or ANYONE please direct me to a list of compatible drives for the Flex 4K unit? It's a minor annoyance that the Canvio won't work, but I never expect everything to come together without issue, especially something I've never tried before. Thanks in advance for any assistance! Other than the USB storage "issue" I have been very impressed with the performance in combination with a Clearstream Eclipse Amplified Antenna. I'm getting loads of local channels and many in HD, especially the main Networks, so it's not been all bad!

Hi,

The HDHomeRun FLEX will format the drive.

Storage fault - can you please enable "send diagnostic information" on the System Menu device webpage and post back with the device ID.

Here's what I could grab for info. If there's anything else I can provide, LMK. BTW, the device seems to boot up with the date of Jan 01, 1970, LOL.
