Using an extend JUST for transcoding?

Postby FuzzyScreen » Tue Jun 12, 2018 10:13 pm

I'm new here ;) so be gentle with my silly question please...

I live in an area with zero OTA channels available, and already have 2 HDHomerun Prime's I use to record my shows over Cable and a WD MCM to store the data.

With this type of configuration would an extend allow me to transcode the Prime recorded videos before they hit the wifi when streamed from the NAS?

Thanks for your time!

No... the only "input" for the extend is rf so it can only work for clear qam with cable (by tuning "live").

Note: if you really truly wanted to do such, you could create your own channel (with other equipment) and "play" the recording to it then re-record that but it would be very slow compared to just using a PC to transcode.
