I have an older HDHR4-2US HDHomeRun model and I installed the Windows "charms" app (form Microsoft Store) and it still works! (Yay) However, the firmware is very old (v20161117). I tried installing the native Windows program (hdhomerun_windows_20171221.exe) but I keep getting an error about the VC++ redistributables not being able to install. I already have VC++ 2017 v14.11.25325 and V14.12.25810 installed. I tried downloading the VC++ installation files (as recommended in another support post) but it won't let me install them since newer versions exist.
Since this is an older model, is it even worth it to try to upgrade firmware?
I have an NVidia 1080 graphics cards, so if firmware supports HEVC decoders that would be huge.
Thanks for any hep you can give.
Reception, channel detection, network issues, CableCARD setup, etc.

I'm having the exact same problem. I get this error: Missing api-ms-win-crt-stdio-l1-1-0.dll.
Try removing any installed 2017 versions, rebooting, then installing the linked ones.
