Re: Encryption
As has been pointed out previously, the "broadcast encoding rules" aren't laws or regulations, they're just what the broadcasters that make up A3SA agreed to. They can change those rules at any time if the majority of the voting committee agrees to change them.

Just a reminder, "Discussion of third party products that do not utilize HDHomeRun tuners" is off-topic.
Nick will post an update when he has one. He hasn't even said anything to us yet, so he's probably several dozen pages deep.

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.
We can block specific device/codec/resolution combinations on the server side. Do you see the audio only message on 1080i (CBS, NBC), 720p (ABC, Fox), and/or 480i (most everything that isn't a major network)?

Re: Recordings interrupted
Since it's a Windows PC doing the recording, there's also a good chance that the problem is software, not hardware. Do you have any third-party firewall, security, antivirus, or antimalware software installed on the PC? If so, either get rid of it, or at least make sure that it is set to exclude the...

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.
Disabling the DVR will not remove the recordings. Just don't uninstall the app, because that will.

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.
OK, next test, to determine if it's the combination of DVR+viewing on the MeCool that is the issue, or if it happens with any DVR. Restart the MeCool to get it into a working state, turn off the DVR on it, and install the HDHomeRun Software for Windows on the PC ( https://download.silicondust.com/hd...

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.
Do you see any issues with live TV in the HDHomeRun app?
If you watch the same recording simultaneously on the MeCool box and something else, does the second device experience any issues when the MeCool goes to the audio only screen?

That makes sense. The next big industry show is NAB, and that's in Vegas from Apr 13-17, so they might return for that.

Re: Replacing Hard Drive
Unplug the power, unplug the drive, plug in the new drive, plug in the power. If the new drive is blank, it will automatically be formatted for use. If not, you'll have a button to format it on the HDHomeRun's web page at http://hdhomerun.local/ . Transferring recordings can be done, but it requires...

Re: No Sound on HDHomerun App on Roku with Older Sony Bravia
Anything other than a Roku will work better than a Roku, and won't have random sound problems with certain TVs. The onn. Google TV box from Walmart works well, and the Fire TV Stick 4Ks are good too.

Re: HDHR Quattro. Stop auto-discovery?
You would need to block outgoing traffic from any source port to destination port 65001/UDP, and/or block incoming traffic from source port 65001/UDP to any destination port. Most incoming iptables rules are either blocking or allowing any source port to a specific destination port, so this is backw...

Re: HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 Next GenTV Tuner
Any third-party app would need to license the DRM system, implement it, and complete compliance testing to prove that their implementation meets all the security requirements. Viewing of protected content outside the home would be prohibited no matter what. I can't see any reason why Plex or Emby wo...

Re: Receiving "no tuner available".
What kind of antenna are you using? Is there an amplifier in use? The logs are showing very high signal strength across all frequencies, even frequencies that shouldn't have any signal on them.

Re: HDHR Quattro. Stop auto-discovery?
There isn't. I would think that the most straightforward way would be to add a firewall rule on whatever is running the Channels server to block that traffic.
