Re: List of Supported devices

Dolby MAT is basically multi-channel PCM plus Atmos object data. Apple TV 4K is practically the only device use it because Apple refuses to support any pass-through. Support of Dolby MAT has nothing to do with support of AC-4. Two are unrelated. I'm pretty sure Apple TV 4K does not support AC-4 at a...

Re: List of Supported devices

The ONN can handle 4K HEVC without problem. So, these 1080p HEVC is piece of a cake. However, it is not capable of handling AC-4 audio. It must be your Emby server does the conversion. Typically, ATSC 3.0 station only broadcasting 5.1 audio so far.

Re: List of Supported devices

Hence, if you have an AVR connected, you can tell if you are receiving 2.0 or 5.1 audio to determine if your device supports AC-4 or not, assuming your local station broadcasts 5.1 all the time.

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

No, not at all. The video at HDMI is fully decoded and decompressed display data which is not the same thing as the broadcast transport stream which for ATSC 3.0 is H.265 compressed. A typical ATSC 3.0 station in my area has a bit rate of around 4 to 5 Mbps. An 1080p display stream from HDMI is arou...

It is much higher bandwidth data stream that must be recompressed down in order to re-disttibute.

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

It doesn't really matter much though (a single tuner STB). If you pay attention, no one has DVR certified for DRM yet. The earliest estimate published is sometime in Oct 2023. HDHomerun tuners have a lot in common with those DVR products. And has nothing in common with those single tuner STBs. Broad...

Re: List of Supported devices

From what I know, cloud transcoding only generates 2.0 audio, not 5.1

Nothing more seamless than using built-in DVR on the Flex 4K itself.

Re: Speaker Configuration

Make sure your PC has internet connection or if you use 3rd party firewall. don't block the cloud transcoding of AC-4 built into the app. Most PCs can't handle AC-4 directly. Hence it needs to send AC-4 audio to SD's cloud transcoding server convert it back to 2-ch stereor audio for playback. If HDH...

Re: List of Supported devices

Thanks. That means I have 3 different devices that can handle AC-4 and could save SD some cloud transcoding costs :)

Hopefully this time the diagnostic info is sent successfully.

Re: List of Supported devices

Is there anyway I can tell if my device is handling AC-4 directly or being transcoded? If you really want to know, you can probably turn on flow instrumentation on better routers to see the traffic metrics. If your router does not have that capability, you could probably use a brute force approach ...

Re: List of Supported devices

While waiting for confirmations, I did some testing using the recorded ts file from DVR. Thanks. Just updated my profile with new device ID of Flex 4K. 11:19PM (EDT): Sony X900H 11:24PM: Rocktek G2 This morning, tested all different audio setting on Android TV OS of G2 (Bitstream, Auto, Dolby dd and Dolby dddp.
