Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

I gave up trying my AppleTV devices as in a few weeks 17 will be the official TVOS so the app needs updating I think. SiliconDust has been somewhat consistent in saying that they will deal with vendor official release versions only (whether Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc.) for any required app updat...

Re: Recording metadata - TPeterson

That is a good start, frequent categories I have that didn't appear to be there are sports and special... and at glance you also appear to be missing some properties that would be specific for sports such as Team1 and Team2. Note to others: not all properties are always used Likely missing since I ...

Re: NextGen TV Certification testing started

OK, so there's no published spec. Can I find some example files someplace? It's something I've been meaning to document. I'll try to get something put together soon. Based on reverse engineering starting about five years ago, based on looking at the stored json, I took a stab at providing a json sc...

Re: List of Supported devices

Is there anyway I can tell if my device is handling AC-4 directly or being transcoded? If you really want to know, you can probably turn on flow instrumentation on better routers to see the traffic metrics. If your router does not have that capability, you could probably use a brute force approach ...

Re: List of Supported devices

If you specifically want built in AC4 support the current list is: To avoid forum expiration (as people are going to want this list for quite some time), I would like to suggest that SD create a curated list in the announcement section of this forum (or in some other place that SD maintains such as...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

If I look at the logs, the only thing that looks like it has failed is "event download failed". As I recall, that message usually means that the record engine is unable to communicate with SiliconDust's cloud based services properly. To try to check if your host has proper Internet access...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

Is there a way to obtain a previous copy of the DVR ? Ever since the last update Kodi has been crashing to homescreen. The package manager (using things such as apt-cache showpkg ... to get the versions and apt-get install ...=version) supports installing specific versions of packages (you may also...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

The package requires uuidgen (because the DVR requires a UUID in its internal conf file). To close this loop a bit.... In debian (and derivatives), the uuid-runtime package (which provides the uuidgen program) includes the installation of the uuidd daemon in order to generate secure and time unique...

Thank you for the support of the various NAS packages over the years.

While I never used your various NAS packages, they clearly were useful to many, and your efforts should be applauded. Thank you.

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

I get the following output, is this anything to be concerned about? .... The package requires uuidgen (because the DVR requires a UUID in its internal conf file). At some point, apparently, it would appear debian uuidgen pulls in uuid-runtime (I am guessing this is a recent debian packaging thing)....

A small heads up for users of my repos (no actual action required, just a heads up) For a long time on linux systems /var/run and /run have been aliased, with more recent filesystem definitions stating that /var/run is deprecated in favor of /run. Some distros are now complaining about the use of /v...

Re: XMLTV guide data

It should be simpler than that. You invoke the discover API to get the DeviceAuths, Not exactly, as you have to allow one to have a mix of tuner devices (say, OTA *and* cable), and different applications (or same application with selected tuner access) that may want one or the other (or all), and a...

Re: XMLTV guide data

We are testing ... I note that this XMLTV output appears to fall a bit victim to the challenge of channels vs stations(*), and certain applications making assumptions regarding the differences. In particular, at least one well known application (sort of) requires there to be two xml channel definit...
