Re: Tuner use on LAN

502 should work. Whatever client device is at IP x.x.x.212 is going through the record engine. Not seeing a second client device going through the record engine... what is the second client device (the one with an IP other than x.x.x.212)? Also recommend installing the latest Windows software to get...

Re: show TSID in hdhomerun_config_gui?

It happened again with another channel yesterday during some eskip. I feel like an idiot for not realizing this before, but I think the next time a partial lock happens in the config_gui I can just use "hdhomerun_config ID get /tuner#/streaminfo" from the command line to see the TSID, as long as th...

"Live channel 583 failed to start: 811 Content Protection Required"

Unfortunately protected channels can't be buffered and distributed to multiple clients.

Re: 2017 LGTV Can't find DVR/Recordings

It seems LG put a cap on how many hosts are scanned by the TV. I was expecting the TV would be scanning the entire /8 but it "only" scans the first /24. I think they are trying to fly under the radar ;) The HDHomeRun app doesn't scan unicast IP addresses. Is there some LG feature unrelated to the H...

Re: HDHR Apps - Android stutter

Alright, but when it's not watchable it is an issue. Trying to figure out if we are talking about two different things. Frame drop or frame duplication is very common in the broadcast from some channels. For example a lot of The Discovery Network channels are mastered at 24fps and are then broadcas...

Re: 2017 LGTV Can't find DVR/Recordings

LG uses multicast for discovery.
Most other platforms use 255.255.255.255 broadcast or subnet broadcast.
Same discovery protocol.

Using a /8 is fine. We use a /16 for engineering internally.

Re: 2017 LGTV Can't find DVR/Recordings

LG does discovery a little differently.

First, make sure you are running the latest record engine - needs to be recent for LG.

Re: HDHR Apps - Android stutter

We are not able to reproduce a problem. Note that it is normal for a single frame to be be dropped or duplicated to correct timing.

"Cable" is if you have it connected to your cable provider and you want it to detect unencrypted channels (if any).

Re: DHCP client always using broadcast as the destination - alhaunts

After internal discussion we decided not to change the long standing behavior where the HDHomeRun maintains both DHCP and link-local addresses. While this approach is not common for IPv4 it is standard practice for IPv6. Where the system has multiple IP addresses announcing UPnP services on all IP a...

Re: DHCP client always using broadcast as the destination - alhaunts

I haven't done testing, but IIRC, UDP/RTP streaming to multicast addresses was limited to the TECH models in the documentation. Other than form-factor (rack mount ability), the only real difference then is static IP and boot-script support? There are differences between the TECH and the HDHomeRun p...

Re: DHCP client always using broadcast as the destination - alhaunts

Since the network stack is essentially shared, any chance of ever getting static IP or multicast support on the consumer models, because "consistency"? ;) Static IP on consumer models - no. Multicast has always been present on consumer models. TECH models add SAP announcements and the ability to tu...

Re: DHCP client always using broadcast as the destination - alhaunts

Doesn't the ZeroConf specs suggest that IPv4 link-local addressing have native/equal access as a LAN scoped address? That's to say that all mDNS name resolution, mDNS service discovery tasks, and all server services are available on all IP addresses at all times including link-local? Then, the clie...
