Shot in the dark, but if you're using GMail, you can add a + and other stuff to your username and it will still come to you like any other email, but will count as a separate email address for anything else. So, if you're adamhonse@ you could use adamhonse+dvr2@.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Nashville TN OTA

The idea is for them to test the robust signal to see if it's worth wasting bandwidth on long-term. The more robust signal takes up a significantly larger percentage of the available channel space to deliver a given bitrate than the less robust signals do. If they dedicate fewer bits to the more rob...

Re: Signal troubleshooting

Antennas Direct sells a VHF kit for $20, and it's the rabbit ear portion of the C1V. You plug your existing UHF antenna into the "in" port, then run a cable from the "out" to your tuner (or amp/splitter/whatever). It's designed to clip on to the reflector screen on their antennas, but you can probab...

Re: Signal Quality glitch?

The HDHomeRun's SNR to % conversion is dynamic depending on the particular modulation scheme in use and what the minimum receivable SNR is and at what point there is no further gain to be had by increasing the SNR, with those points defined as 50% and 100%. ATSC 1 is 15dB for 50% and 30dB for 100%, ...

Re: HELP! MiBox 3 US Updated Android 9 ... Wrecked

I replaced my MiBox with a Chromecast with Google TV and haven't looked back. The picture quality is way better for video from the HDHomeRun (proper 60Hz deinterlacing), I don't have to reboot it once a week to keep it from becoming super laggy, and it doesn't break every time there's a firmware upd...

Re: Signal troubleshooting

If you design your antenna improperly, you can get all sorts of standing waves and reflections and other such problems that can turn the coax itself into a radiating element at certain frequencies, which is the only way those panel antennas get VHF. The Antennas Direct ClearStream 1MAX is probably t...

Buy the dev upgrade and it will show the signal quality (SNR) in dB.

Re: Improved networking

It would work less perfectly if you had to waste bandwidth going wireless from the HDHomeRun to the AP and then from the AP to the client. Also, the emissions from the wireless transmission would probably be detrimental to TV reception unless the device was made larger so that the wireless parts wer...

Re: Unable To Play Back Recorded Content

VideoReDo and other programs will rewrite some of the data that matters. If you need to cut a shorter segment to limit the amount of data uploaded, use dd or similar to just do a binary cut of the file, e.g.: dd if=filename.mpg of=trimmed.mpg bs=188 count=500000 This will give you a sample that's ab...

Re: Unable To Play Back Recorded Content

Probably best to upload one of the problem recordings to a storage site like Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud and email a link to support@silicondust.com along with a description of the issue so they can investigate.

Re: what does card oob lock mean

It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Some cable providers send the out of band channel with less strength than the regular TV channels. This does not cause any problems because the out of band channel uses a much less complex encoding scheme than regular TV channels, and as a result it can be decod...

It's too bad NVIDIA cut corners on the video decoder, because in everything other than this issue I've had better luck with NVIDIA than anything else.

Re: Accessing Program Guide Remotely

Best wishes for your father. I do it the long way. I have an OpenVPN server running on my router, and I connect to that from my laptop, RDP in to my desktop, open Kodi, and schedule using the unofficial Kodi add-on. I've done it on my phone in a pinch, but like anything more complex than Twitter, it...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Nashville TN OTA

That may be. I’ll try and see what happens. I can always return it. I don’t understand why you’re so negative about all this. Hating on the 3020, the Televes. I need the biggest I can get for VHF, not UHF. I’ve gotten good UHF from a home-made antenna before. Since it’s the size of the waves. I nee...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Tampa

I purchased a Connect Duo about a month ago and have always experienced moderate to severe blocky pixilation during some scene changes. Setup: Outdoor antenna @ 20', inline amp, Ryzen 5, 16G, Geforce 1050TI, Win10 --> active HDMI to Android 70". Plays native 4K flawlessly @ 30Hz. When I purchased t...
