Re: HDFX-4K Recorded shows crashing on playback (Android TV / TiVo Stream 4k)
Internet streaming video generally runs at a much lower data rate than broadcast TV, and is also "bursty" as it will download a chunk of video, wait, then download the next chunk, while broadcast TV is a continuous stream. Also, USB OTG ethernet adapters are really not the most reliable de...

Re: Subwoofer in OTA ATSC 1.0?
If the HDHomeRun app isn't set to passthrough, you definitely aren't getting 5.1 sound, because S/PDIF is limited to stereo when carrying PCM. And if you're getting stereo, anything in the LFE channel will not be present as the LFE channel is not included in a stereo downmix (Dolby sets the downmixi...

Re: ATSC3 vs 8vsb Signal Quality
Presumably you don't have line of sight to have signal strength numbers that low with that antenna and that amplifier at that distance. ATSC 3.0 is going to handle that better because the low-level transmission format is just better at it. You may also see differences in how the signal diffracts at ...

Re: Encryption
Nashville is a huge pain for OTA with CBS and Fox up north, NBC to the west, and ABC and PBS to the south. Some markets had station owners/engineers with the good sense to get together during the DTV transition and agree to consolidate to a single broadcast site so make things easier for viewers, bu...

The api.hdhomerun.com URL needs to be https rather than http. The server will send a redirect but curl will not follow it unless the -L parameter is used.

Re: missing 1 group of channnels
We would like to get some diagnostic data to see what is happening: In a web browser go to http://hdhomerun.local NOTE: That address will go do the first HDHomeRun device found on your network. If you have more than one HDHomeRun device, use the "device ID" printed on the bottom of the uni...

Please open a trouble ticket, and include the device ID listed on the label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun.

Re: fed up
I wonder if people started complaining about it if they would change those? Their contract with Fox required them to DRM those channels, but it's been a few days shy of 5 years since Disney took over, so even if the old contract had carried over, they should have moved on to a new one by now.

Re: Flex Duo Pixelating Badley and Voice/Video Not In Sync
Do you have the Roku located close to the TV? Some TVs emit a lot of RF that can kill wireless network performance for devices that are in close proximity, and if the TV itself is between the Roku and the router, the metal shield in the TV that is there to limit the RF emissions will also block the ...

Re: fed up
Spectrum in NY is legacy TWC, so all DRM.
Fios does use DRM on HBO/Cinemax and Fox-owned networks (FNC, FBN, FS1, BTN). Don't know if the former Fox channels that were spun off to Disney (FX, FXX, NatGeo) are still protected or not.

Re: HDFX-4K Recorded shows crashing on playback (Android TV / TiVo Stream 4k)
The logs aren't showing any obvious problems, just that the app stops receiving data for no apparent reason. Just to rule out something weird with the network interface in the Android device, can you switch it to wifi and see if the same thing still happens?

Re: fed up
Spectrum DRMs everything except the locals, you can't access DRM channels on Linux, you can't record DRM channels on anything except WMC, and Spectrum probably won't give you another CableCARD.

If you watch the same channel side by side on a phone, tablet, or computer, how does that look?

WLOS is abandoning its current Mt. Pisgah transmitter site and moving to Pinnacle Mountain (sharing a tower with WUNF), which will dramatically improve coverage of the SC side of the market. Don't know if there's a date for that yet.
