Re: Pixelatiop and Audio issues after Feb 2020 firmware

AFAIK, Comcast still has a mix of markets that have transcoded locals and markets that don't. Check a recording in MediaInfo or a live stream in VLC to see if it's MPEG2 or MPEG4/H.264/AVC. The former is likely the original stream that might have NVIDIA issues; the latter is transcoded and should not.

Re: Can't unhide

Seems like SD broke this in a UI update since I'm not seeing the Unhide button either. It's something they'll have to fix on their side.

Do you have a channel 25? Are the guide listings correct for both it and 20?

Re: Semi-Clueless OLD Newbie

I'm assuming that's Tucson? Most everyone in greater Tucson should be able to get ABC, PBS, Telemundo, and Univision pretty easily. Those in Oro Valley, Marana, and other parts in the NW will have a lot of trouble with Fox and probably NBC, and may or may not have trouble with CBS depending on the a...

Re: Updated hdhomerun_config software for linux?

I'd much rather see them dump the computer-based app entirely and put all of the functionality on the device's web page where it belongs. Make it accessible on tablets and phones so we can adjust our attic and rooftop antennas without having to lug a laptop around. Probably less dev work to rewrite ...

Re: Semi-Clueless OLD Newbie

The summary of Roku is this: Roku devices are designed to play web streaming video. They do a pretty good job of that. They aren't designed to play other kinds of video like broadcast or cable TV, but you can kind of hammer a square peg into a round hole and sort of get something that almost works. ...

Re: Channels displayed only in HDHomeRun Setup App

DVB supports something called the logical channel number (LCN), which is used to identify channel numbers in many parts of the DVB world, which is most of the world outside of the Americas and the Far East. For example, when you're in England and watching via an antenna, BBC One is on channel 1, BBC...

Re: Request 802 error

OK, and people who are just passing the transcode parameter and expecting it to work universally are going to be broken by that, so I don't really see why people who use their TV tuner to watch TV should potentially be broken vs. whatever the hell it is you're doing, especially when SD already provi...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD

Signal strength difference between adjacent channels isn't really an issue with modern digital tuners because of the fundamental difference in how digital tuners work compared to analog tuners (note that this has nothing to do with digital vs. analog broadcasts). Silicondust moved the HDHomeRun to d...

Re: "Always on top" option for HDHomeRun on Windows 10 ?

SD has looked at adding this multiple times since the CompacyOverlay option was added in Windows 10 1803. The VLC UWP app doesn't have an always on top option, it uses CompactOverlay (the always on top mode in regular VLC and other legacy Windows apps is not available to UWP apps because Microsoft h...

Re: Request 802 error

Why can't you just use ?transcode=heavy (or whatever) on everything, then fall back to ?transcode=none if it errors? The EXTEND will respect the transcode setting and everything else will ignore it and just send the original video.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD

What is the required dBm or field strength for a HDHR Connect 4k to get a lock on WIAV? Rabbitears search says I have -94 dBm (36 dBuV/m) at the height/location of my antenna. My Connect 4k says there is a quality of 15% to 21% with a strength of 52% to 56%; it says the Modulation Lock is atsc3. I ...

Re: HDHomeRun Channel Improvements?

An EXTEND with transcoding enabled would decrease the data rate going over the network and allow for better performance over a crappy wifi network, albeit with lower video quality. The alternative is to improve the network connection. If you can run ethernet to where the MiBox is, then spend $20 on ...

Re: Channels displayed only in HDHomeRun Setup App

The European CONNECT Duo/Quatro models (HDHR5-2DT/-4DT) support DVB-C since the 20200907 firmware version (see the firmware changelog at https://www.silicondust.com/support/downloads/firmware-changelog/). They stopped making the EXPAND model because of this. Silicondust is just very bad at updating ...
