Re: Encryption

And that would be behind an NDA (want some "proof" of the power of the NDA, look at what was removed from the first post of this thread about a week ago). But yes the broadcasters do call the shots as they are the voting members.

Re: Encryption

I have read that as part of released public specs and demonstrations as a capability, essenyially being a delivered app to ensure "subscription". it is not expected that traditional broadcast ota tv will go that route (yet). Whether or not SD chooses to provide such app behavior within the...

Re: HDHomeRun RECORD time source on Windows DVR?

Every hour or so (might take 2) the record engine checks in with SD to find out what to record in the next 4 hours with also getting the time from SD's servers. Guide data is always UTC and the Record engine checks how off system time is. I'm not sure which method it reads system time but it shouldn...

Re: Recording on NAS or USB drive

To attach to the flex it must be formatted as XFS and the folder must be HDHomeRun (I believe that capitalization but I'll double check when I get home, its been awhile since I paid attention to such as I just double click it when needed as I access such via a share when I attach it to my NAS, but m...

Re: Existing WTV recorded shows

To be picked up by engine, the file must be an TS with a .mpg extension and have metadata in the first 64 ts packets... when you used vlc it knew nothing about metadata to put there. Also the engine should automatically pick such up but relies on notification from the os the directory changed, somet...

Re: ATSC 3 Okayed for network tuners...

Your link won't work as it includes a banned word of the forum. I think you are misinterpreting the word "new" used 8 times in those couple of paragraphs. Nothing (yet) requires a "new" device when it comes to HDHomeRun its the same thing that has been talked about in the encrypt...

Re: Connect 4K, display ATSC 1.0 simulcast if ATSC 3.0 DRMd?

Nothing like that in the HDHomeRun (viewing) app... perhaps you were thinking of Channels which will frequently change to alternatives if it can't display or tune a particular channel or were thinking of the HDHomeRun DVR that will record the task from another channel (though may have to be properly...

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.

I haven't really seen android record function work well since Android 9... the newer the OS the more $%^# they put in it in the name of security that breaks everything. I had no problem with the mecool in question when I used it but I would never rely on an android device to run the dvr engine and c...

Re: Black screen with "Audio only", etc.

Those video quality settings show up when there is a detected (mpeg2) hardware decode error and it has to switch to software decode.

Re: Xfinity Not finding channels during scan

Since you mentioned "not staged" I will assume you are in a Cisco/SA/Technicolor area which is very unusual for comcast, so quite often that needs to be fixed through "local" support (which there usually isn't any a user can contact). They will need to send a hit that makes that ...

Re: DRM Protected Channels

First I would check that the card is properly paired... an incorrectly, but partially, paired card can often work with anything but DRM channels. Next I would look at other equipment, anything that might delay network transmission as there is a 7ms RTT so often moca/wifi (particularly the combinatio...

Re: HDHomeRun App on Roku vs Firestick

Roku is limited to just the roku player... with android (firetv is currently using android) there is much more one can do.

For ATSC3 on roku you need a recent Ultra model.

Ny personal recommendation is to NEVER use a roku when it comes to TV content (it can be fine for internet content).

Re: DRM Protected Channels

What tuner device... nothing works with ATSC3 DRM with the HDHomeRun 4k (yet)... it "should" work with cablecard (hdhr prime) DRM but I think there may have been a (mecool) firmware update that messed that up... Also recently the other DRM platform apps have needed certificate updates (win...

Re: HDHR Quattro. Stop auto-discovery?

That won't happen... there is no "auto discovery" as far as the device is concerned, something must be looking for it (thus it is "manual" discovery not auto) and to turn that feature off breaks hundreds of apps. In other words the app (channels in thus case) is periodically tryi...

Re: Flex Quatro HDFX-4US USB or PoE Power?

People have done such but keep in mind that probably the biggest cause of problems have been power supply related as it needs good clean power with very low ripple/noise... (often after a few years you may find yourself replacing power supply). Usually with USB power adapters you will not get that c...
