Re: List of Supported devices
Started a few times between 5:55pm phoenix time and now... also turned on 5.1 speaker configuration rather than passthrough Good test - thanks. The box does not have an AC4 system codec so AC4 passthrough is the only option for local decode. Most likely it will only output 5.1 when converting to DD...

Re: List of Supported devices
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (gen2) supports both AC4 passthrough conversion and AC4 via a system codec. Note however that... 1) the AC4 passthrough conversion will only deliver 5.1 if the FireTV audio output is set to DD+. If it is set to DD or PCM the FireTV will output stereo. This is something the Fire ...

Re: Encryption
Would just like to hear from SD if they are giving up on solving DRM since A3SA basically has put too many restrictions to overcome in a cost effective way? It's got to be eating into your resources, time, and profits to the point it's no longer worth risking the company. Especially if ATSC 3 never...

Re: List of Supported devices
Looks like diagnostic logging is enabled, just didn't get the start. It is doing AC4 "passthrough" conversion. Try setting the Speaker configuration to 5.1 surround sound in the HDHomeRun settings menu - will be interesting to see what it does. Ok to set it back to Digital passthrough afte...

Re: List of Supported devices
I can check the codecs - can you please enable "send diagnostic information" in the Settings menu of the HDHomeRun app then restart the app.

Re: Encryption
personally I think the first thing ATSC/A3SA should have doe is say DTCP2 isn't ready for such (nothing can support it unless one wants to be tied to one manufacturer for both client device and tuner) so lets allow 1080p and below to use DTCP-IP We tried asking for exactly that. Problem is DTCP1 do...

Re: Encryption
One device per TV type ATSC 3.0 boxes have a technical enforcement that prevents you from watching outside your home [mission critical DRM restriction]. Specifically they can only connect to the TV via HDMI and there is a limit as to how long the HDMI cable can be. We documented, implemented, and de...

Re: Super Bowl in 4K HDR
Nice increase in cloud transcode usage. Stable bandwidth graph which suggests that people who started on ATSC 3.0 stayed on ATSC 3.0 for the duration of the game. System was running around 10% capacity which is about 6x higher than typical non-game days.

Will be interesting to see if today beats last years record for peak cloud AC4 transcode workload.

Re: Channel Information ATSC3
Correction - the http and libhdhomerun streaming approaches will result in the same data for ATSC 3.0 channels - the issue is with using http. The default output is a SPTS containing audio and video repackaged from the ATSC 3.0 broadcast. To get ATSC 3.0 information you need to have DEV features and...

Re: Chicago Finally, sadly DRM
I have a HDHomerun Quattro HDHR5-4US. I live in the Chicago area and was getting WBBM-TV CBS 2.1 until they switched to NextGen. From what I'm reading here, if I understand correctly, is that because my HDHomerun doesn't support ATSC 3 I will no longer be able to tune in channel 2. Please advice if...

Re: Encryption
To me surprise, someone from the engineering department at my local ATSC 3.0 encrypted station responded. They basically said it's the industry standard, contact your device manufacturer for not fully supporting the standard. The station is jumping the gun. As of Feb 2024 there is still no implemen...
