Re: Dallas ATSC 3.0?

KDFW and KDFI are having problems with their mask filter and transmitter, so they were broadcasting at reduced power.

Re: Has anyone managed to DX ATSC 3.0 KBRO-LD on rf ch. 2 via E-skip?

The "Lighthouse" term refers to ATSC 3.0 stations that share their signal with other stations in the market. KBRO-LD isn't a "lighthouse", it's a standalone ATSC 3.0 LPTV operation run by Dish currently carrying promotional channels like Dish Studio, Hopper Promos, PPV Previews a...

Re: Repack is done, no point in scanning above chan 36

This was brought up before and it's wrong, only full power stations and Class A stations have fully vacated 38-51. There are still LPTV stations and translators broadcasting on 38-51, most of them now have construction permits for new RF numbers in the new range, but some won't expire until 2023. Ca...

Re: Zoom vs Stretch/Wide in HDHR apps

It's not just strips on the top and bottom, they also have strips on the left and right. I'm not sure what WPHL is doing, the feed should be 16:9 widescreen and full frame, but for some reason a few months ago they added black strips around the image. I wonder if they were attempting to do 14:9 lett...

Re: Zoom vs Stretch/Wide in HDHR apps

WPHL in Philly. CourtTV on 17.3 and Comet on 17.4 should be 16:9 but they're 4:3. (Yes Comet has a duplicate affiliate in Philly that does broadcast in the correct ratio, but WPSG's directional signal doesn't reach all the areas that WPHL's non-directional signal reaches, especially North of the Leh...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Phoenix - Jan 2021

I can’t seem to find any info on how folks receive said station. I guess it might be an Evoca market? Evoca has nothing to do with Phoenix, they're only in Boise. They don't carry any locals except for BYU-TV's satellite feed which they have in the clear to meet the FCC's requirements to have at le...

Re: New Silicondust LTE Filter

So, this only helps UHF channels? VHF channel 9 has breakups for me from about 2-5 PM and I was hoping something like this would fix it, but it sounds unlikely. VHF problems are more likely ambient noise related, so things like poorly shielded electronics (i.e. cheap LED bulbs or offbrand chargers)...

Re: PoE

All HDHomeRun products need at least 1 Amp, the latest 5th gen models come with a 1.5A power supply, while the Prime (Cable Card) comes with a 2.5A power supply, all of which is more than what the latest iterations of Power over Ethernet can handle.

Re: Dallas ATSC 3.0?

The Dallas area live bandscans on RabbitEars show a strong signal on RF 34, but since none of the Dallas bandscans use a 4K model it doesn't decode anything. If you have a Windows computer try using the hdhomerun_config_gui tool which is found in the Program Files\Siliconust\HDHomeRun folder after y...

Re: ATSC 3.0 on air in Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Michigan?

WXSP-CD is a Class A signal, which is limited to 15 kW. 23 miles out likely puts you in fringe territory depending on the terrain and your antenna, so you can only decode the QAM 16 PLP but not the QAM 256 one: https://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=25076ff3784d7e5e01785b63031709f5&site=1...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Phoenix - Jan 2021

RF 35 is a Class A signal that's limited to 15 kW, and lower on the tower, so it's not as strong as the other Phoenix stations. (i.e. RFs 15 and 33 from the same tower are 450+ kW)

Can you post a link to a RabbitEars report for the location of your antenna?

From what I saw in the release notes, unfortunately those rules are still in place. The main "new" thing for developers is finally giving them the ability to offer instant resume.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Phoenix - Jan 2021

Basically, the issue is that KAET's presence on KFPH-CD's lighthouse was part of an experimental STA that expired back in April 2020, and they never made the required Next Gen filing with the FCC when KFPH's ATSC 3.0 operation became officially licensed in March 2020 instead of experimental. So the ...

Re: HDHomeRun Prime compatible with new Cox upgrades?

Here's the problem you might run into. In most other cities the test channel wasn't DRM protected, giving people the false impression that they are good to go, but when the switch happened they implemented DRM protection on most of the channels, breaking compatibility with 3rd party viewing software...
