Re: Odd channel reception in my house

It's because most Roku devices have a crappy MPEG-2 decoder that crashes anytime it encounters an imperfect video stream and error correction would normally kick in. For online video that isn't an issue, but with OTA weaker signals or a momentary change in reception conditions from things like a gus...

Re: HD HomeRun freezes when another program opened

Photoshop is a massive CPU and memory resource hog, especially at launch when it runs all the checks to make sure you have a valid license. It also uses GPU acceleration which can affect video decoding.

Re: Relax the requirements for a channel

If you were able to get the Seattle stations with the mudflap style antenna in a window, the Antennas Direct Bowtie with the preamp might be giving you too strong of a signal. Try removing the preamp and the power inserter and connect the antenna directly to the HDHomeRun and see if the Seattle stat...

Re: Same number, different channels

LPTV signals are considered secondary to full power stations, so if there's a conflict the LPTV signal is the one that has to change. If the LPTV signal doesn't respond to a viewer complaint, which isn't surprising considering it's a HC2 owned signal, the only way get this resolved is to get the ful...

Re: Same number, different channels

I've even gone as far as trying to contact the station owner to try and get them to change channel numbers, not sure if that's even a possibility. But it seems like such a simple bug to fix in the software, as most standard tv tuners have a way to just show both. Try contacting WHRO's engineers and...

For North American OTA, a unique TSID is assigned to each station in USA, Mexico and Canada. Unless the station is transmitting an invalid or wrong one, under normal circumstances it shouldn't change.

No, KPLR's ATSC 1.0 stations will be carried by other St. Louis stations like KMOV and KTVI

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

It's in the TVStudy they submitted with their application to increase the power back in 2018. You can't cause more than 0.5% interference to full power stations or more than 2% interference to low power or Class A stations. It also takes into account the affected population of those areas receiving ...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

They can't. They already took advantage of the maximization window to increase their power to 450 kW from their originally assigned 398 kW, but they couldn't increase it any further as it would cause more than 0.5% interference to WXIX in Cincinnati and more than 2% interference to upper-adjacent WD...

Re: 4K Tokyo Olympics over ATSC 3.0

No ATSC 3.0 station carried the Olympics in 4K, the 4K coverage was limited to cable, Verizon FiOS, satellite and OTT only: https://www.nbcolympics.com/4k There isn't enough bandwidth for 4K when you have 4-6 HD stations sharing the market's ATSC 3.0 signal, plus none of the NBC O&Os currently h...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Orlando, FL

Has anyone been able to get a 4k resolution on the ATSC 3.0 channels? I tried with the Olympics and looks like WESH 102.1 is still sending a 1080 signal and not a 2160 signal. I verified resolution in the Channels app on Apple TV 4K by turning on the "stats". NBCU's 4K coverage is limited...

Re: Unofficial Kodi HDHomeRun DVR PVR Client

An endless buffer taking up most of the space on a dedicated hard drive or partition for recordings is one thing (provided that there's a way to automatically dump the buffer if space is needed for an upcoming recording), but if it's a shared drive, an endless buffer can end up doing a lot more harm...

(though I believe if one performs a scan and such channel isn't present it may drop such entirely thus re-enable later if picked up) The background scan will not remove channels. It still replaces channels when there's a virtual number conflict and the "new" channel has a higher resolutio...
