Re: App Version 20200518 (App) Audio dropping out

I also sent the some data up. In my case, I didn't wait long enough for it to happen but change of channels cause couple crashes, End of stream error and media decoding error messages. But this morning, I left it play for about half hour and ended up with no audio at all.

Re: 20200508 freezes

I have noticed this kind of behavior on previous beta as well on a different Android TV device (Verizon Stream TV). So I don't think this is new to 0508 release or Shield in particular.

Re: Android version 20200507 crashes

SD already updated the beta and it no longer crashes. So, all you need to do is use the link above to join the beta again and you will immediately get the latest beta.

Let's just hope they didn't mess up other stuff which is what they usually do. But again, I no longer own Mi Box S.

Re: Roku: HDHomeRun OTA is silent using the Roku HD App

No Roku devices decode AC3. So, you'd better have a TV that can accept AC3 from HDMI. Most new TVs support that but most old TVs don't.

Re: Roku Watch never plays recorded

Of course, you could fix this by transcoding to a form acceptable to Roku in the record engine, either on record or playback. Without the dedicated hardware, it is very unlikely to happen. Live transcoding HD signal is not an easy task. SD already has an version of tuner that does MPEG2 to H.264 tr...

The video stream you receive from tuner are very different than any cable streaming app.

Re: Remote with numbers issue with HDHomerun for Android

Have you tried use your TV's remote instead? Android TV support HDMI CEC for a long time. It supports TV remote through CEC on most modern TVs. IIRC, the ok button on TV doesn't work with HDHR APP via CEC either. But at least you don't have to spend extra $ on something you already have. Update: jus...

Re: Having a hard time convincing family (wife) that HDHR DVR can replace WMC

I have both WMC and SD DVR running on the same PC using SD guide data right now. I'd continue to use WMC as a back up because I just found out my Super Bowl recording on FIOS 4K channel using SD's DVR didn't record at all. I have to manually start a recording once I found out and that's already an h...

Win 8 Pro doesn't come with WMC either. It requires a feature update with WMC license key. It is possible that if you upgrade from win7 with WMC, you get it for free.

Re: Having a hard time convincing family (wife) that HDHR DVR can replace WMC

IIRC, WMC add-on for Win8.x is only about $15 extra or so. Definitely not $99. That's the price of WIn8 Pro which is required version to use WMC add-on.

From what I read, EOL of Win 8.1 is only a year behind that of Win7.

Microsoft already said publically that it is ending the guide data this month. But no specific date is given.

Re: Having a hard time convincing family (wife) that HDHR DVR can replace WMC

Why not have both enabled and use both at the same time? That's how I setup mine to do. With HDHR DVR, you have more flexibility of viewing them (Xbox1, Win10 PCs, smartphones and tablets and Android TV boxes or TVs). But WMC currently still offers DRM recording and more remote friendly. I have two ...
