Re: Another $30 Android TV box

Isn't the TiVo 4k has the MPEG2 bug with latest firmware? I know SD has to blacklist it.

Google TV has settings to disable forced HDR so that it can automatically match the source. So, if you have a 4K HDR TV, that will be my recommendation.

Re: Another $30 Android TV box

Turn off the surround sound setting and you should be able to control the volume. That's the only way. You can't control volume if you also sending out DD audio from HDHR app. They were all grayed out, but I found the setting for auto/manual sound settings. Switched to manual and turned all the Dol...

Re: Another $30 Android TV box

I had to turn off CEC to get the device volume to work............ This did not work for me. I get a bubble popup saying the device is set to surround sound and to use the tv volume. I also get a window that says, in poor english, volume passthrough not work. Turn off the surround sound setting and...

Re: Another $30 Android TV box

I think that is a mistake for controlling the device volume in an Android TV box. Google clearly doesn't want the device volume controlled this way. Both Chromecast with Google TV and nVidia Shield only allow remote volume buttons to control TV volume. Same with my Verizon Stream TV but it does it h...

Re: Another $30 Android TV box

On all the Android TVs I have used, volume control buttons on the remote are meant to control TV volumes via either IR or CEC. They are not part of Android TV buttons.

Re: DRM compatible options ???

SD claimed that switch to software decoding produces subpar de-interlacing images. So, I'd avoid any such device on their black list.

Re: DRM compatible options ???

Android TV doesn't really mean has to be embedded in a new TV. There are tons of Android TV boxes out there that can do the job. For example, the latest Chromecast with Google TV is one such option for only $49.99. As long as the box is officially Google certified, it will play DRM channels (try to ...

Re: HELP! MiBox 3 US Updated Android 9 ... Wrecked

The problem with MPEG2 issue may not affect all cable providers. And if you are on Comcast, you probably will never encounter it as Comcast use H.264 codec instead.

What is MiBox 4? I only know two office Mi Boxes in US: Mi Box 3 and MiBox S. Mi Box 4 never officially released in US.

Another $30 Android TV box

https://9to5google.com/2020/11/16/dynalink-android-tv-dongle-adt-3/ It is $29.99 on Walmart.com (add a $5 filler to get the free shipping). Wonder if anyone already have one. Just ordered one and it will arrive in a few days. Based on the review, it is Google Certified running Android TV 10 (same ve...

Re: Want to switch to Spectrum cable

It is easy if you already have the subscription and working cablecard. The channel scan in Prime's web page will show which channel has DRM. But since you haven't switched over yet, there is no way to know.

But according to many posts on this forum, Spectrum mark ALL channels DRM protected.

Re: Want to switch to Spectrum cable

DRM is still an issue. HDHR DVR doesn't support DRM channels at all at this time. You will need WMC 7 or 8 for that.

Re: Apple TV + DVR Recorded Playback!

So, it looks like the app only supports the latest Apple TV remote for most of the controls. It does not fully support older remotes, any universal remotes (via IR or BT) or HDMI CEC remote from the TV remotes.
