Re: 24 Dec 2020
Ok, new firmware update done just now. I’m in Portland market and was wondering if it’s normal for ATSC3 to not have Closed caption’s? ATSC1 channels that also have a ATSC3 equivalent displays the captions. While SD doesn't display CC on 3.0 channels, it's not all in SD's lap. I can stand up 4 diff...

Re: Plex Guide - duplicate channel errors
The problem is in Plex. They did a crappy job of designing the way channel lineups are handled and have never made any attempts to fix it.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Dallas
Something about the way KXAS encodes the video on 5.1 isn't handled properly by NVIDIA's MPEG2 decoder (it also happens on most PC video cards using NVIDIA GPUs). 8.1 used to have the same problem but it went away when the station switched from 1080i to 720p.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Dallas
4.1 is the regular ATSC broadcast. The ATSC 3 broadcasts now have 100 added to the channel number (e.g. 104.1 instead of 4.1).

Re: Signal Strength on ALL channels
If it's 0 bytes then you managed to overwrite it with one of the commands you ran, which is why you should not run things as administrator unless they absolutely require it (which hdhomerun_config does not). Re-run the HDHomeRun software installation program and choose the Repair option to replace t...

https://download.silicondust.com/hdhome ... ndroid.apk always points to the current APK version. No need to use potentially sketchy third-party download sites if you're just looking to sideload.

Re: Scribe Quatro and Plex server access recordings
I don't know why no one has mentioned it so far, but if you're wanting to use Plex and have a device that transcodes, you needed to buy the HDHomeRun EXTEND not the HDHomeRun SCRIBE.

Re: 24 Dec 2020 - Grumbles
You have a Mac, right? You'll need to know the IP address of your HDHomeRun. Go to http://my.hdhomerun.com/ and click on the device ID for your HDHomeRun, and look at what comes up in the address bar. It will be 4 numbers separated by periods, most likely starting with 192.168. Then, open Terminal s...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Dallas
Unfortunately, the local station here doesn't seem to care that their encoder is severely misconfigured.

Re: Host ID Missing
It's not a catch 22, just a bad card. They wouldn't be able to reactivate it even if they had the host ID because the card didn't get to the point of enabling the out of band connection.

Re: FireTV 4k picture quality
The HEVC channels won't play on devices that don't have HEVC support. A general rule is that devices that are marketed as 4K support HEVC and devices that aren't 4K don't support HEVC. The HEVC channels will show up in the channel list on unsupported devices, but you'll get an error when you try to ...

Were you running the HDHomeRun app on the Win7 PC? If so, then see previous comment about that not working.
What video card does the PC have? Because if it's Intel, then it's not going to work for DRM H.264 channels in WMC.
The Ceton extender won't work for DRM H.264 channels.
