Re: Synology SPK for DVR Record Engine

The engine records what it gets, though most likely it is an mpeg2 codec being used, the file is really a TS with a .mpg extension regardless of the codec used in the ts. If you are using OTA (in US/canada), you could get an extend which will transcode prior to the engine getting it. The most import...

Re: Subtitles

I tried to switch CC to ON (Subtitles : on) in Sydney, Australia but the subtitle does not appear on all channels. Is CC feature available in Australia ? If not, are there any workarounds ? Thanks and regards, Ari As stated in this thread, CC is closed captions (US/Canada) DVB would need subtitle s...

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

They have previously stated it won't until after the new ui comes out. One of the reasons is supposedly tvOS will be incompatible regardless and they still will need to build an app from "scratch" to run on the current version of tvOS and they can't pull the people off the new UI project until it is...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

The products page (and shop, though out of stock) has 5th gen expands... What was being discussed was prior/at the same time the connect/extend was to come out, there were supposed to be 2 new 4 tuner cablecard devices one with transcoding and one without... if that ever came out, we most likely wou...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

How the question seemed to have been asked, and putting such in two groups, would not be possible as the device (firmware) would need to be complete if it supports cablecard at all (part of the certification testing). The firmware has nothing to do with the possibility of recording DRM protected con...

Re: Subtitles

but if he was watching his stuff with an HDHR app right out of the storage bin those subs/CCs should work. Only if "CC" as actual "subtitles" won't work... OP did not give location, for most of the world, other than US/Canada, subtitles do not work with SD's apps (though some other countries may ha...

Re: Subtitles

That is for "CC" many who use the word subtitles are referring to dvb subtitles that the software doesn't support yet.

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

Why... now they fairly committed to 2019, while before it was Coming Soon which can be years from now (I have seen soon mean up to 1000's of years).

Re: Servio and Scribe

Find that a strange question as that is exactly what the servio is... keep in mind anything related to SD's dvr implementation requires modern tuners (prime, expand, extend, connect, quatro duo) not the legacy tuners (3rd gen or prior, often commonly referred to as duals)

Re: Servio and Scribe

That is the idea for many... according to various interviews the plan is supporting 4 in/4 out... I do not know if that is set in stone (limited) or if that is what/all they expect from the device but it may try "more"... it has been a long time since I tested 2.5" drives for such storage and don't ...

Re: Servio and Scribe

That was one of the things they said they had to work on... the only way i think they can make such easy for users is a file upload webpage on the device... if worse came to worse, move it to a storage only engine though at this time such usually would cause things to rerecord unless the move off of...

The router routes the packages to the appropriate Mac Address.
Actually that is a definition of a switch... a router is layer 3 and routes between networks.

Re: Servio and Scribe

Actually the number one issue I see is when people plug devices into the router so that is not "recommended" but shown for "convenience" Usually such "daisy-chaining" would be a hop thus take things out of your network... a switch would be much more efficient and cost effective and "no" wired device...

Depends on where you run your engine but I suggest configuring port in the config or registry entry... see viewtopic.php?f=92&t=21009 on how to set a fixed port.

Re: HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem

And is the storage engine on that machine (since you are using "local host") and monitoring that port? What does the engine's log say. What happens if you use the "real" ip address?
