Re: how can i stop hdhr from scanning all hdd on startup?

That's really weird. The HDHomeRun app doesn't access disk or scan for anything (it is a UWP app so it is pretty much sandboxed).

To try to reproduce I should connect a USB drive and let it power down?

Re: Fire Stick 4k

It looks like the MPEG2 decoder in the FireTV Stick 4k is a bit broken.

We will file a bug with Amazon and are looking into the possibility of decoding MPEG2 in software to make it work.

Re: dvr stopped working on nas after firmware update

The new record engine packages for MyCloud have been released.

From Windows run HDHomeRun Setup, then run NAS Install from the DVR tab.
This will automatically download the latest package for your MyCloud.

Re: dvr stopped working on nas after firmware update

It looks like WDC changed a mount option which broke things.

We have updated the record engine so it works with this change... pushing to try to get a release out later today.

Re: MiBox

Anyway, my point has always remain the same. I want SD to pick a device or some devices and say this is a supported device. Similarly to how they did with the Xbox. I, as a customer, don't want to be running like a chicken without a head, trying to figure which device would work with DRM. I don't h...

Re: OTA Works, PTV Dead

We had an upstream outage for a few hours in the middle of the night. Everything except E! came back automatically. E! required manual intervention.

We are chasing up what happened.

Re: Blog: HDHomeRun Premium TV - the infrastructure that makes it work

I just caught this post, an interesting read. As a cloud solutions architect, I'm curious what you think the net benefit of dual-stacked redundancies for the core and transcoding layers are. A standard approach to that would stack those together to reduce latency and reduce complexity, with no loss...

Re: Problems again...

I was able to chase this up with the right people this morning...

The peering with Qwest in Denver is getting an upgrade - two new 100Gbps links. That should properly fix the primary path when it goes online.

We are still investigating why the secondary path didn't solve things.

Re: Problems again...

Yeah, and speed shouldn't be an issue! I have a gig connection!
Data goes through 9 routers to get from our servers to your home. There is packet loss between #5 and #6.

(ie your end is fine, our end is fine, but a peering point inbetween is maxing out)

Re: Problems again...

Hmmm... you are already being routed through our secondary path. I ran a test of the primary path - that is definitely still having issues so the logic pushing you through the secondary path is good.

Busy investigating the secondary path now...
