HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem

HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem *IMPORTANT NOTE* Most of these utilities utilize undocumented features/functions of the various HDHR components which have been reverse engineered. In addition to potentially failing to do the correct thing today,...

Re: "No channels found on any device"

Attempting to recognize it with Kodi as above fails with the post Subject line. Have you run a "channels detect" on the HDHR4-2US? And/Or the default firewall on Fedora may be blocking certain functionality. To test, disable the firewall entirely (and as F25 is no longer supported, the first step r...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based systems

You most likely want to follow the Linux manual setup instructions at https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=318401#p318401. Agreed. FWIW, since it is an RPM based packaging solution, if someone wants to contribute Mageia specific stanzas for the SPEC file (so that RPMs could be built)...

Re: Linux Setup (Advanced)

Pretty good example With the usual caveat that your mileage *will* vary (over the years I have created enough init, launchd, system management facility, systemd scripts/configurations to know that examples should be evaluated, and one should sort of expect to need to modify it for your unique envir...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

I thought it would be at least worth a try. Even without the redirect statement (recording directly to the local drive) I have the same result. The recording engine appears to be running normal, but could indeed be a permissions issue to the record path. What syntax would allow write permission to ...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

I have a similar setup running RPi3. I have an older NAS that doesn't support SSH, so I did "mount -t cifs -o username=<username of NAS>,password=<password of NAS>,rw '\\<IP of NAS>\HDHomeRun' /srv/HDHomeRun" to redirect the /srv/HDHomeRun folder of the RPi3 to my NAS with what think are the correc...

Folder permission was the problem. Thanks for the help.
I have updated the directions (first post) to add in an item about permissions. Perhaps that will help the next person. Thanks.

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

Any ideas? Check the DVR engine logs (same folder as the specified location for recording). They may tell you something (if there are no logs a common issue is the permission of the folder you set for recording does not actually allow writing by the engine, which typically will be set to run as use...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

I use this, but you are taking the risk that the repository could be used nefariously. Signing does not imply the repo is not nefarious. It only means that it is not modified from when signed. And since no one is providing me a free hardware HSM device (so I could do secure offline signing and secu...

Re: User Guide to HDHomeRun Record Engine

I do have a question about running with my Mac Mini as a server..... "Is it necessary to have HDHomeRun open on the server as it was on EyeTV?" I am not sure, but I think I may have had the app closed and still got a scheduled recording. Or perhaps I am dreaming." The record engine runs in the back...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based systems

I was wondering if you have updated this to the HDHomeRun RECORD version 20171221. I (a few days ago) finally got around to updating this. There was no "release"/"change" notes indicating the code actually changed (for all I know it was a cosmetic version display change), so I missed it (I only ten...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for DEB based systems

I just tried to install this on an ubuntu 17.10 server and ran into this problem.... Which was as explicitly stated in the caveats. I can say with some confidence that those packages will not be signed, as you should have zero reason to trust the packager (I certainly don't). You could either accep...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based systems

Here is how I was able to get this to work while still using firewall in Red Hat / Fedora / CentOS. I'll note that the (current) RPM creates a firewall port rule which corresponds to the record engines port (which is set in the config file), and then opens the port when the recorder is started. It ...
