Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine

So it is not possible to get a QPKG from Silicondust The current recorder can be installed manually using the provided installers to many NAS's, but it currently requires re-installation at every reboot of the NAS. SD has stated their intention (at or near GA) to offer installers/packages for "mark...

Is your HDHomeRun one of the current generations (HDHR3-CC, HDHR4, or HDTC)? The DVR functionality only supports the current generation of device(s). Is your HDHomeRun and the QNAP on the same network?

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based system

FWIW, the git packaging spec file has been updated to support building of aarch64 rpms (64 bit arm), and the build script now includes support to build 64 bit arm rpms for fedora, and 32 and 64 bit arm rpms for EL, all of which are now downloadable via the repository.

So, to summarize, no copy protected content any time soon in your app (if ever).

Perfectly fine thing for some, a deal breaker for others, but the most important thing is transparency to potential purchasers. Thanks for sharing.

Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based systems

Availability of Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for Fedora and Enterprise Linux (and workalikes) and openSUSE. Based on the response for the (now expired?) docker topic at https://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=23472&p=146688&hilit=docker#p144537 , it seems that SD is willing to ...

Re: Silicondust Blog (4/20/2015) - DVR Kickstarter

Maybe but I do know that there is additional hard/software (each for 'scam') that enable to view/record decoded TV signals. The US market is substantially different than (pretty much) everywhere else. That goes for what content is broadcast "free", what DRM is applied (and how), the price/availabil...

Re: Silicondust Blog (4/20/2015) - DVR Kickstarter

The service has a once-a-year subscription of $30 (about the same as MythTV). Just to be accurate, Schedules Direct (the guide service) charges the fee. MythTV itself is "free" (ignoring all the costs of the system(s) to run it, and the investment of ones time, none of which are really "free"). A g...

Re: SiliconDust Blog (11/21/2014) – Updates & Updates

Thanks! I have a HomeRun Prime, so it's not working on my Nexus Player, but it's nice to see how the integrated TV app is supposed to work. Do you have any word from Google on why MPEG2 is not supported on the Nexus Player? Is it a hardware issue with the Intel chip, or a software issue that hopefu...

Re: SiliconDust Blog (9/9/2014) – Android App

Great! Is there any chance that you guys will add Chromecast support? If Chromecast supports MPEG2.ts then yes. But currently it does not. While the chip used in the Chromecast is apparently MPEG2 decode capable, Google has apparently not licensed the codec, so first step would be they would have t...

Any chance you might be able to share whether you are targeting CW102 or CW103 with CableLabs? Yes, I am hoping it is not a later wave.

Excellent price for a great product.

I wonder if one could conceivably make any predictions of future product announcements based on a Woot day :-)

Re: Silicondust Blog (9/03/13) - Nick

Quick news - our http://www.silicondust.com and http://www.hdhomerun.com domains now support ipv6. If you have ipv6 internet access you are most likely reading this over ipv6. (if you can't tell the difference then we have done our job well) 8-) Nick You have done your job well (and thank you). And...
