Re: HDHomeRun DVR - DRM Recording & Playback

Certainly they had hoped to be able to offer DRM recording before now. Long before now. Such is software development with hard requirements (with multiple digits of dollar penalties if you get it wrong). Meanwhile you can hedge your bets by installing EPG123 on WMC The OP should be aware that unles...

Re: Music Choice / Radio only Channels

Is there anything that I need to do, to get these to show up in the channel scan ? If I understand the issue correctly, this is on the "Channel Lineup" page of the tuner? And, as I recall, this issue has been identified previously (and SD has changed things over the years). As I understand it, ther...

Re: Issue with Prime

We're on Frontier FIOS. Any help to diagnose this issue would be very welcomed. Thank you! Usually (but not always) FiOS signal levels are quite good, until they are crap (which typically indicates an ONT issue, but that is an all or nothing change). I am going to presume the two HDHRs are next to ...

Re: Xfinity CableCARD DRM flag

is there any point in asking Xfinity to turn off the copy once flag? It is (usual) Comcast corporate policy that most channels (other than the premiums), and certainly including the regular OTA be marked copy-freely. You should ask Comcast to change the settings. However, the local office, and like...

Re: Internal Power Supply

However i also agree with the op's reasoning that for many the new devices are too light weight and move One can always epoxy the tuner to a large piece of granite (sure, it would violate the warrantee, but if the piece of granite is large enough you would never be sending it in for repair anyway)....

Re: Xfinity 4 digit channels

CableCARDs can handle channel numbers in the multiple digits (a channel number 3000 is not, itself, going to be an issue). And CableCARD firmware can (and is) updated as needed while in operation, so there is no such thing as a "latest CableCARD" (you almost certainly already have it). Now on to res...

Re: XMLTV guide data

It should be simpler than that. You invoke the discover API to get the DeviceAuths, Not exactly, as you have to allow one to have a mix of tuner devices (say, OTA *and* cable), and different applications (or same application with selected tuner access) that may want one or the other (or all), and a...

Re: XMLTV guide data

We are testing ... I note that this XMLTV output appears to fall a bit victim to the challenge of channels vs stations(*), and certain applications making assumptions regarding the differences. In particular, at least one well known application (sort of) requires there to be two xml channel definit...

I presume you will not object, if, in my copious free time (which has about a dozen other higher priority items to accomplish just over the next three days)(*), if I choose to look at creating a full formal grabber (full wrapper) for the XMLTV project ( http://xmltv...

Re: Upgrading to Windows 10 + replace cable boxes

Would you tell me if I was wrong in imagining there is some hope that CableCARD support is just going to completely die off in the industry and you'll be able to ignore the DRM recording community? There are some who will argue that linear cable is dying, and the only question left is what date to ...

Re: 2 channels not working - SLATE

Perfect. I can do that. And while under the covers it just does the HTTP POST, for those that are not programmers, there is a 3rd party contributed python app (unsupported, but works for me) that can perform some of the work for you too (HDHRUtil-Tuner-channelSetting) documented at: https://forum.s...

Re: Run channel scan from CMD line ...

way (way way) late, but the HDHRUtil-Tuner-channelScan utility ( https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=68701 ) can start, stop, show the status of channel scans as long as you can run python3 scripts. Essentially all it does is encapsulate what the curl does, of course, so other ...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Can the Dual and Connect co-exist on the same network? Yes, and, as you suggest, the legacy tuners continue to work on the systems/solutions they were sold for (with the usual caveat that eventually they will probably die, although anecdotally, the tuners are like the bunny, they just keep going an...

Re: When the Prime 6 comes out, how many are you planning on getting

I would like to get one Prime 6 since having two of the three tuner Primes is costing us $10.00 for the second cable card. Same. Even though it might not be cost efficient to do so. I would rather give the money to SD than Verizon. Certainly the cost depends on provider (and market), but as I under...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

Where do you see that they intend to charge a monthly fee? All the literature that I see talks about Xfinity giving it out for free so long as you have a TV subscription package. Back in Feb 2017, Comcast was *very* explicit regarding their intent to charge any device displaying to a "big screen" (...
