Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD
FCC rules require that horizontal power exceed vertical. The best they could do is to go circular with it. Perhaps they're testing the worst case--trying to do mobile from an H-only antenna. If you happen to get over to look at it, I'd be extremely interested to find out what you see. I assume at le...

Re: Updated hdhomerun_config software for linux?
I'd much rather see them dump the computer-based app entirely and put all of the functionality on the device's web page where it belongs. Make it accessible on tablets and phones so we can adjust our attic and rooftop antennas without having to lug a laptop around. Probably less dev work to rewrite...

Re: Updated hdhomerun_config software for linux?
The page probably hasn't been updated yet on the main site, but you can also find the links here: https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/linux#configuration_utility Unfortunately, the hdhomerun_config_gui zip file indicates that all the files inside are dated 2016, so the version number doesn't correspond...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD
WIAV-CD just changed its modcod to QPSK and 7/15 FEC, so the minimum SNR is now around 4 Mbps. They've cut the bitrate on their video down to the 3-3.5 Mbps range. I wish plpinfo (or a more detailed version of it) could spit out some of the other parameters, like the LDPC, FFT, Guard Interval, etc. ...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD
By digging into the manifest.xml file, I think I have determined that the video is actually 1080p. <Representation bandwidth="7500000" codecs="hvc1.2.4.L123.11" frameRate="60000/1001" height="1080" id="Video1_1" sar="1:1" scanType="Progressive" width="1920"> A user on AVS reports the Stirr app is pr...

Now seeing it here in Alexandria. Just the one channel in (I assume) 1080i. Bitrate about 8 Mbps.

I hope I didn't offend you Trip. That wasn't my intent – just trying to state some facts on the local OTA situation here in RDU. By no means do I expect you to be able to cover every station in every market. Your site is very helpful, and I hope you are able to continue the great work. If you need ...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Raleigh/Durham - Jan 2021
And yes, Rabbit Ears and other sites are quite far behind. I know quite a lot of even ATSC 1.0 channels in these databases are ancient by many standards. I have seen reports on some channels that haven't been updated since those channels launched by themselves as the only channel on their frequency...

Re: ASTC 3.0 Columbus, Ohio
Not sure what Trip would like with it now adding of 100 to the channel numbers but think that is understood now. And if there are multiple physical channels it would probably be best to group them that way. Thanks for the alternative method; that's really helpful. The primary key in the RabbitEars ...
