Re: Improved networking

If an HDHR and its client(s) can be close together and connected via Ethernet but only by WiFi to the router, wouldn't it be OK to connect them plus a wireless access point to an Ethernet switch so that the router is only used for Internet connections and DHCP? That's basically what rpcameron was su...

Re: Zoom vs Stretch/Wide in HDHR apps

We have seen some channels where the broadcaster sends the wrong aspect ratio. This is a fault in the broadcast and best to be fixed by contacting the broadcaster to fix. Agreed, provided the broadcaster knows how to do that. Unfortunately that's not always the case, especially with stations that a...

Re: Hide Detected Channels

One option that might not work in all cases is to install an attenuator that reduces the weak signals enough that they can't be recognized by the HDHR but the stronger ones still can be. Then do a scan and remove the attenuator (unless the strong ones are still strong enough to leave it in place). I...

Re: AC-4 Audio?

According to the specifications the Pi 4B can decode (but not encode) H.265 in hardware. So Raspbian VLC, Kodi and any other video player should be able to pkay it. No word on decoding or transcoding AC-4 yet but the 4B should be powerful enough to do it in software once someone writes it.

Re: "Always on top" option for HDHomeRun on Windows 10 ?

I searched for "windows 10 always on top" (without the quotes) and got lots of results telling how to do it. Here's one:
10 Tools To “Always On Top” Any App In Windows 10

Many articles recommended getting the Always on Top app from the Microsoft Store. That's included in the link above.

Re: AC-4 Audio?

For those who don't want to build from source, you can download the Windows binaries from my DropBox account here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eene7ecard5xkij/ffmpeg-ac4.zip?dl=0 I tried to download from that link but all I got was a blank page. So I changed ?dl=0 to ?dl=1 and that gave me the downlo...

Re: AC-4 Audio?

For the next ATSC 3.0 HDHR model, or even the current one if it's possible with a firmware change, it would be good to add an option to transcode AC-4 audio to a format that most digital audio players can deal with. AC-3, E-AC-3, even PCM would do.

Re: Channel Detection Scan (channels 2-6)

The answer that should satisfy everyone is to make the scanning range a user option. 2-51 or even 2-69 could be the default but let the users who are annoyed by the time it takes change the range to 2-36 or 8-23 or whatever is best for them.

Re: Channel Detection Scan (channels 2-6)

On a related note, why does the HDHR scan down from channel 69? Were there ever any digital broadcasts in the US above 51? Soon the upper limit will be 36.

Re: Is there a limitation on number of channels in Kodi add-ons?

In most cases in the US the highest real cable channel is 158 (~1GHz). But most, probably all, real channels have multiple virtual channels, each with an integer number, so many of those can be in the thousands. I don't know why you're seeing 159 instead of 158 but it's probably referring to the rea...

Re: TVJunkieMOD (Record, Request, Playback, Favorites +)

The last post in this thread is over a year old and the latest version of the mod I'm aware of (26) is older yet. I was using it on a Raspberry Pi, currently running Kodi 17.6. It worked well until I upgraded my HDHR4-2US's firmware to 20180817 from 20150826 to see what Premium TV looked like. After...

Re: Unofficial Kodi PVR Client for HDHomeRun DVR subscribers

In your PVR client in the Recordings section I do see series episode names but there are no episode numbers listed. Is there any way to show the episode numbers with episode names? Lots of posts! Will check them all ASAP. For this one, yeah ... I can absolutely add that as an option. Any particular...
