Re: Windows 10 and QuickTV

I have two Win 10 computers. One was upgraded from Win 7 and runs QuickTV fine (except for PTV channels, which it lists but doesn't know how to play). The other was a clean install and QTV doesn't work on it. I assume that the earlier Windows elements that QTV depends on survived the upgrade but wer...

Re: Advice on best “remote box” for a smart TV?

I like a Raspberry Pi for that job. Typically $40, but you have to add a case and power supply (~$10 each), an MPEG-2 license (~$3) and a mouse and/or keyboard. Install a free OS (there are several), Kodi and the HDHomeRun plugin. One drawback is that once you shut it down, the only way to restart i...

Re: weak tuners?

Actually that sounds like the classic signal strength issue that has been discussed here many times. Not that the signal to the HDHRs is too weak but that it's too strong. That's especially common when an amplifier is in the line. Your strongest channels don't work but the weaker ones do. If you hav...

Re: CONNECT: Not all channels showing

I am using this antenna: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076BKPFDK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I get a kick out of all the fake claims in antenna ads. This flat panel antenna is so good that it receives not only the broadcast networks but also ESPN! In 4K! At up to 120 miles!

Re: reception issue

I just tried CW ( channel 12.1 / 31), NBC (channel 12.1 / 31), and PBS (channel 26.1 / 32). they all have similar reception with signal strength in the 30s, quality in the 50s, and symbol quality at 100%. CW should appear as 20.1. how can CW and NBC both be on channel 31? The same way Me-TV and Bou...

Re: 8 Missing Channels

Anyone who has ever eaten at an a la carte restaurant knows two things: its not cheap and the selection is not huge. The same would hold true for cable tv.
But obviously there are enough people who like a la carte restaurants to keep some of them in business.

Re: HDHR-T1-US Not Working Correctly After Update

Since all the different ways you've tried to watch TV have worked except the current version of View, that must be a problem with View or the other software it depends on. As much as I favor being able to downgrade firmware, in this case I have to agree with nickk. Downgrading would be pointless. Vi...

Re: reception issue

How's your reception of WUNL (PBS)? It's essentially the same location as WXII and also close in frequency (RF 32 compared to RF 31). TV Fool says WXII is on RF 16 with WCWG (CW) on 31, but RabbitEars says both are on 31 and the TSReader data from 6/23/2018 confirms that. They'll move to 16 in the r...

Re: HDHR-T1-US Not Working Correctly After Update

I don't know if the T1's firmware can be downgraded. I can downgrade my 2nd-gen Duals but not my 4th-gen Connect. But here's what you can try. Go to the SiliconDust Downloads page . Look at the software and firmware changelog pages to choose the version you want to download. Some, not all, older sof...

Re: Forum support for code BBCode no longer preserving formatting

Whenever I want to post text where it's important to preserve spaces, such as code indents or column alignment, I first copy it into a text editor (I use Notepad++ but most any editor should do) and replace all spaces with non-break spaces (Alt+160). Then I copy it to my post and enclose it in Code ...

Re: Changing my location - using between two homes

I have a related question with an added complication. I expect to soon have 2 HDHR boxes that can receive PTV. 2 tuners each, so not exceeding the maximum. I'm on the east coast. I plan to take a vacation to Arizona, take one of the boxes with me and leave the other at home to make scheduled recordi...

Re: how to remove channels

I think you can remove the demo channels even with your legacy tuners attached. I just tried it and it worked for me. I have two 2nd-gen white boxes and a 4th-gen Connect. I subscribe to PTV but this should also work for the demos. In addition to X-ing out the channels on my.hdhomerun.com, find your...

Re: Purchasing a replacement fan

edit: Searching has not been very fruitful. There are some 45mm fans that look closeish. I might be able to 3d print an adapter to a normal square fan, but I am worried the height would be too large then. I could cut a giant hole in the top as people have in the past. https://chrishubbs.com/2015/02...

Re: Hallmark Offline - and missing on the tuner

I wouldn't have known Hallmark was missing if I hadn't read it here. I'm not a fan of Christmas movies, although "The Nightmare Before Christmas" was pretty good. But for me, the best Christmas movie of all time was "Die Hard."

Re: Windows Phone App

Do you get sound? If you get a guide, try changing to an SD subchannel to see if you get a picture there. Did you install the recommended Microsoft Win 10 MPEG-2 codec? If so, remove it. It may be good on some computers but on my Lumia 640 LTE Windows Phone it just makes things worse. When I first i...
