Re: End of CableCard support - per FCC?

I find it very unlikely that Verizon, Comcast, etc. will kill your CableCARDs anytime soon. Since no cable companies would ever have offered CableCARDs for third-party equipment if the FCC hadn't forced them to, I think they'll kill their use as quickly as they can. Instead of immediately dropping ...

Re: Real Newbie Questions

You didn't say anything about wanting to record shows. If you just want to watch live broadcast TV then never mind the HDHR (sorry, SD). Connect your antenna to the antenna input of the TV and scan for channels. To connect multiple TVs, use a splitter or possibly a distribution amp. The TVs can all ...

Re: Last minute ABC schedule change tonight

Too late for that show but to prepare for similar shows in the future you might want to install cresstone's HDHR-VCR . It lets you record by setting channel, start and end times. It can also work with TitanTV's record function. In that case it can save TitanTV's metadata in a separate text file. Tho...

Re: Blocking VHF in favor of UHF

If there are no other VHF channels you want to receive you could switch to a UHF-only antenna and/or add a UHF/VHF splitter/joiner (a.k.a. UVSJ) to your antenna line as a splitter, using only the UHF output with the VHF out terminated. Another possibility is to temporarily install an attenuator (a s...

Re: Setting up channels with transmitterrs in opposite directions

Depending on how strongly you receive your TV channels and the directionality of your antenna, it's possible that you could rotate it to a position that receives all of them well enough for a manual scan to add them to the list. Or perhaps you could temporarily add a cheap secondary antenna to get a...

Re: Setting up channels with transmitterrs in opposite directions

I think SD could easily fix this by adding a user option to make rescans additive, the same as the automatic background scan. If a station changes channels or goes dark permanently (or the user moves) then just switch back to the current scanning method for the first rescan. Another vaguely related ...

Re: install wizard - cablecard not found

on my second computer, I installed hdhomerun_windows_20200602.exe and it installs the config app. I launch it and it sees both my digital antenna and says status is ok but my cablecard says status Not Found Digital Antenna? On a Prime? Also, Config or Setup? Config GUI doesn't offer the term Digita...

EBO >>I assume your HDHR3 is connected to an antenna, not cable. When you last ran a scan on HDHomeRun Setup (not Config) in Windows, was it set to Digital Antenna or Digital Cable? To the best of my knowledge, it was set to DIGITAL ANTENNA. Somewhere along the way, I loaded Homerun TV application ...

- I just noticed that the channels in the Dual seem to be the local Cable-TV channels???? How did my Dual pickup the cablebox channels? Through one of the TV-apps? I assume your HDHR3 is connected to an antenna, not cable. When you last ran a scan on HDHomeRun Setup (not Config) in Windows, was it ...

Re: Premium channels - Multi channel audio

For clear QAM and OTA you could use TSReader Lite to see if a subchannel's audio is 5.1 or 2.0. I don't have a Prime so I don't know if it would work with that. You would choose an RF channel and TSRL would show data about the subchannels. Expand the PMT PID for a subchannel and you would see 2 or m...

Re: Looks like my cabe provider moved the channels around

Early versions of HDHomeRun Setup allowed users to rename channels and disable unwanted ones by unchecking their checkboxes. Current versions don't allow either of those options but there's another way. It won't work with SD's DVR or View app but it can with some third-party DVRs. It also works with...

Re: Hardware for Cable (card)

jdh_dfd, It's possible that the power surge damaged the Prime3's power supply. Try swapping supplies with the good one. But first you should measure the supply's voltage to make sure it isn't above 5.25V no-load, so that it won't damage your good unit. You could also try swapping Ethernet cables. If...

Re: Symbol Quality = 0

In your postings on AVS Forum you said The tuner is in a small closet with the modem and router. I can't really remove them as the HDHomerun relies on a hardwired ethernet connection. There are some other devices in that closet (though no LED or CFL) and I can try to remove/turn off those. At least ...

Re: Baltimore WBAL Channel Repack

AVF Forum, TV Fool, and Rabbitears all might be worth looking at. I am not in your area but they have had good information regarding antennas and stations. TV Fool used to be excellent and it still has value but its database hasn't been updated in years. It doesn't support the current TLS 1.2 encry...

Re: Is there a limitation on number of channels in Kodi add-ons?

In most cases in the US the highest real cable channel is 158 (~1GHz). But most, probably all, real channels have multiple virtual channels, each with an integer number, so many of those can be in the thousands. I don't know why you're seeing 159 instead of 158 but it's probably referring to the rea...
