Re: Antenna recommendations?

It's impossible to recommend an antenna without knowing anything about your location and the stations you're trying to receive. Enter your location at TV Fool , make a radar plot, then post a link to that page. That will help others here to recommend an antenna. Some Amazon reviews of the antenna yo...

Re: fewer channels after upgrade to HD Homerun Connected Quatro

Run HDHomeRun Config GUI (located in the HDHR program directory) to see if the signal strength is too high or too low. 100% is the maximum reading so if it says that, it could be much higher. Ideally, the strongest station should be a little lower than 100%. An aside to the SD folks: Why not change ...

Re: HDHR - Still Supported?

With all the firmware updates since the launch of the original HDHR (White in color model) with the individual coax cable connections: 1) Am I better off loading a specific version of firmware to avoid any issues? - The newer firmware is catered to the "current" models and have additional features ...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

I'm sure that when ATSC 3.0 starts to become popular, SD will offer an HDHR that can work with it. From what little I've read about the chip Sinclair is promoting, apparently it works as a Software Defined Radio that can be reprogrammed to receive not only ATSC 3.0 but all or most of the other digit...

Re: HDHR3-DT stopped working after upgrade

Your error messages suggest you have an intermittent connection from your PC to your HDHR. How are they connected? Via Ethernet through a router? Or a switch? If WiFi is involved, replace it with a wired connection, at least for the downgrade attempt. Other possibilities include bad cables or connec...

Re: HDHR3-DT stopped working after upgrade

I tried running an older version of HDHomeRun Setup (20140121) but it didn't fix the issue. . . . Is there any way of reverting to an older version of the firmware? Maybe. The 1st and 2nd generation US models can be downgraded but not the 4th gen or later. I don't know about the 3rd gen. But you ca...

Re: Multiple copies of stations of varying strength and the app chooses the weakest ones?!

Some of the older software versions are still available on the SD site (at least, the last time I checked) but there are no posted links to them. However, the only difference is the version number (a datecode). So if you collect the address of the current version and replace the datecode with the on...

Re: Wifi clarification

I think there should be a clear statement in all advertising, close to any mention of the ability to stream over WiFi, that says something like: "No HDHomeRun models have WiFi built in. All must be connected via Ethernet either to a LAN (recommended) or to a computer on the LAN (which limits its cap...

Re: Channel 5000?

dlsijon: You can do some research on your own if you don't mind wading through a lot of technical data. Install TSReader Lite on your Windows PC (you must have one if you have a Hauppauge WinTV Tuner). On first run, select HDHomeRun_8VSB from the list of input sources (or HWATSCSource which would p...

Re: HDHomerun w/Lifeline Cable?

I agree that probably all of your cable channels are encrypted. However, if you have a TV with a digital tuner, you can connect it directly to the incoming cable, make sure it's set for cable rather than OTA reception, scan for channels, and see if any of the results are watchable.

Re: silicon dust has a blog

I'm sure you're right, JeffRand. And thanks for the tip. When I thought I'd found what I was looking for, I stopped looking.

I don't see anything on either blog that I'd think SD would want to keep from the public. I particularly liked the article about PTV's redundant server system.

Re: Record from VCR w/ HomeRun Extend :)

There are several analog to digital converters on the market for varying prices. If I wanted to do a conversion I wouldn't buy one, I'd borrow it from my local library. They have two Elgato converters to loan out. Your library might not be that advanced but it's worth checking.

@techpro2004, if you happen to see links on the site that take you to that area (without just randomly typing in webpages) feel free to PM them to me, so I can get it fixed. Actually, there's a link to the blog on every page of the forum except the main one. All you have to do is [removed by poster...

Warpster's HDMonitor is a GUI that will allow you to release any HDHR tuner. Its main purpose is to show the status of each tuner in detail.

Re: Forum support for code BBCode no longer preserving formatting

Whenever I want to post text where it's important to preserve spaces, such as code indents or column alignment, I first copy it into a text editor (I use Notepad++ but most any editor should do) and replace all spaces with non-break spaces (Alt+160). Then I copy it to my post and enclose it in Code ...
