Re: Pixelatiop and Audio issues after Feb 2020 firmware
VLC always uses its own codecs. [removed by moderator to avoid confusion] Blame playback issues on a end of support OS as firmware problems is far fetched. The firmware on the Prime has nothing to do with codec decoding. It just delivers transport streams without care about what codec is in it. The ...

Try the modern app on a phone, tablet or Windows 10 PC. Compare that to your Win7 PC.

Re: Pixelatiop and Audio issues after Feb 2020 firmware
IIRC, View gets rebuilt because of SSL issue. But it is still an outdated app that no longer really get any updates. I think you are actually starting to blame VIew app instead of firmware now :) Everyone blames firmware updates for no reason. There are many factors that changed over time. SSL being...

Re: Pixelatiop and Audio issues after Feb 2020 firmware
I don't understand your reasoning. If VLC works fine, so using VLC will bypass the firmware on your Prime? If it is a firmware issue, won't it affect any viewing software, including VLC? From what I know, there is a known nVidia MPEG2 decoder issue out there. So if you have a nVidia Video card or us...

Re: Video stops regularly
I think SD already asked Roku to fix it years ago and nothing happened.

Re: Video stops regularly
Roku, one of the worst options for using HDHR app. The Roku playback engine that all apps must use is very buggy and can't tolerate any imperfection of video stream.

Re: Weird Issues with Playing Recordings After Upgrading to Connect 4K
AC-4 is a new audio codec, not the old DD+ Netflix uses. So, capable of play Netflix Atmos doesn't mean your AVR supports AC-4.

Re: Google Live Issues with HD Homerun Prime
Nothing slow or clunky in HDHR app other than the usual limitation of the UI. The Sony app guide UI is actually good. But in order to use DVR (I rarely watch anything live), I haver to use HDHR app. Not a big problem for me once you get used to it. Google Live Channels app is dead. The new Chromecas...

Re: Google Live Issues with HD Homerun Prime
I have 900H and yes I specifically tested DRM channels. 3-5 minutes is outrageously long. I'm use the HDHR app input for channel source, not the beta Google Network tuner which will not work when you have two Primes on the network.

Re: Google Live Issues with HD Homerun Prime
I use Sony TV app on my 900H and no problems. Better than Google Live Channels app which doesn't like the fact that I have two Prime tuners. Live Channels app is also not on my TV (thank God so that I don't have to disable it like my other Android TV boxes) and the Sony TV app looks like a modified ...

Re: noob question - linux setup
1. You need DVR subscription to record. 2. You will need a client app to view live TV, recordings and schedule recording. What you installed is just a recording engine, nothing else. Client app is how you view different channels. Recording engine only records what client app tells it to record. I do...

Re: HDHomerun Connect 4K Windows 10 issues
There is a long thread about this MEIDA_ENGINE error on Win10. It is not specifically the problem of your tuner but rather anyone who runs Win10 app and switch channels. I believe last time I read, SD is still investigating it.

Re: No Audio on Roku App (Still - Have done my research)
Majority of Roku devices don't have AC3 decoder which unfortunately is what all US TV channels broadcasting with. You MUST have a device that can decode AC3 connected to Roku. In addition, Roku devices also can't handle most cable channels (without DRM), can't support legacy HDHR tuners. All these m...

Re: Legacy dual-tuner unit not visible from Roku box, works on other devices
OK, so apparently I have an incompatible HDHR unit. And incompetent stream device for HDHR. Roku devices are the worst kind among all other streaming devices when it comes to HDHR usage due to its huge limitation of app capability. Over 90% of the channels that my Prime outputs can't be viewed on R...
